Friends would describe Amy as a vibrant, warm and compassionate person. She is always looking out for others and she has had a fascinating career to date. From the early days as a budding actress, performing in many different forms, to being an advocate for others within the Criminal Justice system after completing an honours degree in Criminology. Being able to understand people and learning from
them what their desires and wants are in life is a skill that motivates Amy when working. Her career, whilst varied, has always held the same running theme, helping others feel good and helping them make the most out of life, which is why the humanist philosophy sits so well with Amy. For her it’s about seeking and creating happiness in life and being compassionate and empathetic towards others. Her favourite quote is by Maya Angelou which is “try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud” and that is a great way to describe Amy! Becoming a celebrant was a natural step for Amy as she gets the opportunity to work with so many different people and feels incredibly honoured to be invited to help them create a unique personal and bespoke ceremony for their celebration whether that be for a wedding or a funeral. Amy said “After attending lots of friends humanist ceremonies, I was always captivated by how memorable they were. I remember always feeling involved in the story being told and feeling a deep sense of joy throughout the ceremony. And that is magical”
When not busy working, she loves being with her husband and two young children making lots of memories and being constantly reminded of just how hilarious little people can be! Amy is available to conduct wedding ceremonies, vow renewals and funerals in Fife, Perthshire, Tayside & Edinburgh.

Mr and Mrs McKinnes 🥰 on Friday the 14th of October I was honoured to conduct the marriage of one of my closest friends lovely little sister! Rosie and Robert held their beautiful day and they filled their ceremony with one of my favourite readings, The Giraffe and the Monkey by Daniel Thompson. After tying the knot during their handfasting and signing their schedule, they filled their quaich with Baileys and Rosie did a sterling job of ensuring that every last drop was gone!! 😄 A joy to have been a small part of their day!

W O W is all I really can say about the simply jaw dropping setting that was for Craig and Gemma’s special day and it was such a fun day! Gemma’s school kids had shared their thoughts on love and marriage and I had the honour of delivering their responses to the guests and how magical and insightful they were! I especially liked their response to What Should married couples do? DANCE and go on HOLIDAYS 💃🏼🏖 I think we should all subscribe to that outlook on life! These happy brides crafted their perfect ceremony where after using pink ribbons to tie the knot, they completed their ceremony with a fun sand ceremony where alongside their children, their parents blended their different coloured sands to symbolise the blending of their family.

What a happy day yesterday was as I got to conduct my first wedding for the brilliant Steph and Ben! A ceremony filled with beautiful personal touches, where the couples handsome dog executed his ring-bearing duties with perfect precision and their gorgeous daughter and flower girl twirled and swished up and down the aisle! This happy couple did not stop smiling!
It was a delight to witness their personal vows to each other and to finally pronounce them as husband and wife!

On Thursday I took a trip down to Dunbar to the stunning to conduct S and A’s beautiful outdoor ceremony and it was filled with lots of lovely sentiments. They had a stunning, intimate ceremony personalised with their love story and their specially chosen vows and it was an honour to witness their I Do’s ☺️! Huge Congratulations again to the newlyweds! A pleasure to work with the fantastic again!
The cutest garden ceremony 💐L&D kindly allowed me the honour of conducting their very intimate garden ceremony yesterday and I just fell in love with the set up! As the happy couple shared their personal vows, their gorgeous dog Howie watched on as his mum and dad said their I DO’s ❤️ Another delightfully happy day and the sun shone throughout!
Wow!! As I drove up the long and windy drive to I was blown away by the setting for Mr and Mrs Walkers gorgeous day! As a bit of a melt when it comes to trees, my jaw was on the floor when I saw the ceremony setting which was beautifully set under, a Huuuuuuuugee big old tree (very technical description😉) This Disney loving pair had a fairytale wedding and Megan looked like a real life princess 🥰 Another joyful day and a Happy Celebrant!

Claire and David finally said their I Do’s at the incredible on Saturday and what a lush day it was! Family and friends are so important to this delightful pair and they thoughtfully personalised their ceremony by including their nearest and dearest in their day. From having their close friends deliver gorgeous readings, to the brides brother generously filling their quaich with spiced gin. Claire’s little brother even entertained the guests by singing and playing the guitar whilst they signed the register. All of these little touches and more were their way of expressing just how much everyone means to them and it was such a joy to send the newlyweds off down the aisle with the biggest smiles on their faces!

What a happy, happy and somewhat magical day last Saturday was for Eilidh and Calum!
Calum’s hugely talented siblings performed a song written by Calum’s mum, which was the most stunning and special way to welcome Eilidh down the aisle to her groom.
After telling their funny and adventurous tale, they exchanged their heartfelt personal vows before setting off as Mr and Mrs Barker down the aisle, to be hilariously surprised to hear their guests serenade them along to the Italian song! A very well executed plan orchestrated by their parents!

“It’s a funny old thing isn’t it”
I remember saying this phrase a LOT just after I lost my brother at the end of 2019. When people asked how I was doing I would reply “Oh yes…Och you know…I’m getting there, it’s a funny old thing isn’t it!”
It was my best friend that pointed out to me that I kept saying that same line and knowing me as she does, she knew that this was my way of struggling to put into words how utterly bereft I was feeling,how I couldn’t possibly string together a fathomable sentence to convey how I was actually feeling. Instead my brain had constructed this same safety line which was my go to response when people asked how things were.
When we lose someone we love, we don’t know how the grieving journey will go. And everyone’s experience is different. What I learned from my own experience was that there are no expectations as to when you should complete your grieving process because of course grief never leaves you, you just adapt and begin to live with it as that extra c***k in your armour.
Regardless of the time since your loved one passed it still aches when life surprises us with little reminders of them. Whether that be a song on the radio, a movie they loved, a smell of their favourite perfume! And these are ok!! In the early days I would get annoyed at myself for getting upset if I saw someone who looked like my brother or if I heard that old familiar laugh he had. But now when these little moments arise, I allow myself to have a little cry, or feel that swell in my chest or lump in my throat because these little reminders are exactly that- little moments of reflection, where happy memories you shared are recalled and that’s my way of keeping him around me.❤️
