Farewell. After nearly 20 years and 80 affiliated fixtures, Frenchfield in May was our last. We had a great weekend, the sun shone brightly, the views over the national park were special, and everyone was having a lot of fun. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed organising so many events at various Cumbrian venues over the many years and we will miss seeing you all so regularly, whether as volunteers, officials, stewards, supporters, exhibitors, competitors or as suppliers, simply because it wouldn’t have been possible without you. There are many risks in running horse trials, from the weather to viability, to incidents and accidents, and we’ve experienced and managed so many of them, and yet, without the commitment of so many other people none of it would have happened. We must however call time at some point and believe now is right time to do so. Thank you to everyone for all your time and commitment over the last two decades. We feel sure the next generation will pick up the baton in due course to carry the sport forward.

With best wishes to you all, please keep in touch.

Douglas, Lucinda and family.

Did you have a good time? Let us know what you thought was best about Frenchfield Horse Trials last weekend. Choose just ONE WORD or write us a note. Was it the icecream, the views, the quiet, the new show jumps or simply going up and down over the xc?
Thank you

Now, enjoy a trip cross country with one our riders from last evening over a few of the BE105 fences...and thanks to Izzy for the video😎

Yes, we are set up three days ahead of schedule, with just xmas trees, flowers and some beautiful woodchips courtesy of A. W. Jenkinson Forest Products to add into the mix, making Frenchfield well and truly ready to go. Huge thanks go to my two key assistants Andy Evans (84, retired from the Army), Morgan Weymouth (24 just started in the Army) and my sister Sarah Weymouth (not allowed to say and never been in the Army), along with Lucinda Weymouth, your co-organiser (also not allowed to say) who relentlessly and diplomatically handles requests, queries, errors, omissions and some things quite extraordinary while usually also employed elsewhere. Assisting over the weekend will be Francesca Weymouth (23, but not competing this time, and going into the Army). Not available are Brodie Weymouth (21 this week, doing Finals at Oxford) and Alexa Weymouth (19, in Dakar, Senegal). Without such family this event woudn't be running so thanks go to them all including Grandma (93) and Dot (91) in the Catering Dept (5***** rating). We very much look forward to welcoming Simon Grundy (Technical Adviser) and John Cartner (Steward) on Monday afternoon to make an inspection on behalf of all those entered. In the meantime here are the winners of An Eventful Life (lovely people, marvellous videos, very generous) 'FREE video giveaway' as early bird entrants for getting their entry in, in very good time. Kirstin Gribben (BE80); Holly Pier (BE80U18); Mollie Stodart (BE90); Georgia Gribben (be90 u18); Nydia Chandler (BE105) AND Chloe Main (BE80). Well done and thank you for your courtesy.
