Albert is delighted to bring you news of a huge milestone at Philadelphia Zoo! Critically endangered Western Santa Cruz Galapagos tortoises, Abrazzo and Mommy, have become first-time parents at ages around 100! Mommy, who’s been at the zoo since 1932, is the oldest known first-time mother of her species.

The first baby tortoise hatched on February 27 with the others following close behind, and they’re already eating and growing strong. The zoo plans to introduce them to the public on April 23, Mommy’s 93rd anniversary at the zoo.

This success is part of a critical breeding program to help save the species! 🐢💚

How cute are these guys 🐾 Unfortunately most aren’t aware of why they are seeing an increase in mini volcano structures in their gardens at this time of year.
Hopefully with a little understanding you may not think they’re such a menace after all!
They’re just trying to find a mate 🥰

Our Easter HAF provision will be running in the Easter Holidays on Wednesdays and Thursdays both weeks.

Provision will be provided by GLL Cumbria Community Development Team & other providers including Action Ants, The Science Booth - Cumbria & Zoobidoo.

All days will be ran 9-3pm, HAF spaces will include a hot lunch and snacks.

Please email [email protected] for an online registration form to reserve a HAF funded space. Paid spaces are also available inc lunch or without.

It was a delight to bring the Zoobidoo team of animals to visit this wonderful provision 🐾🐸🐌🐢🦎🐹

Some of our teams were lucky enough to have the wonderful Zoobidoo visit them this week. Just look at this gorgeous frog! The teams saw a variety of animals and had a brilliant time.
