On 2nd December, join us for FitkinWall's Harpland coming to the AMATA Arts Centre as part of their Autumn tour.
In this new show, internationally renowned harp and electronics duo FitkinWall follow threads of migration, loss and longing. Ruth Wall’s explorations into Gaelic song, fiddle and pipe tunes and the history of the Scottish Highlands where she grew up have a particular focus on migration and the Highland Clearances. Graham Fitkin has created enigmatic and mesmerising new versions of these tunes for Ruth’s three harps - the sitar-like Renaissance bray harp, the beautiful medieval Gaelic wire harp (clàrsach) and the Scottish lever harp. The performance will feature a light installation by acclaimed light artist Peter Freeman.

Emilyn Claid, queer dance artist in her 7th decade, presents a new solo performance developed in collaboration with choreographers Heidi Rustgaard and Florence Peake around the theme of transformation - posturing, presence and passing. Between clay foot and creature, therapist and hunter, cruising and crumbling, Emilyn Claid, Untitled, playfully embodies queering and ageing, teasing perceptions of what’s real and what’s imagined. Coming to AMATA on Saturday 12 November.

Lea Anderson: Shuffle
Casting you, the audience, as voting club-goers, Shuffle invites you to join our dance floor democracy. This interactive show combines world-class street dance with a dance floor soundtrack, created under the legendary eye of Director Lea Anderson.
Part performance, part game, every lover of club culture wins. Designed for people who want to participate, but who don’t necessarily want to dance themselves, Shuffle offers simple interaction. Built around the call and response that takes place between club dance floors and their DJs, audiences are invited to vote for a ‘Rewind’ or a ‘Shuffle’.

Thirty two outstanding young dancers present a new contemporary work, exploring the relationship between movement, voice and music.
Quartier Paradis dives into parallel universes where there is no apparent endgame, a place built on the fantasy of an ardent greed for a power that continuously shifts. Where ritual, memories and ancestral heritage will keep you standing; revealing the alarming reality of a society locked in a cycle of tyranny. Who will eat the apple?
