We are delighted (but also sad) to offer a selection of Blair mementos for our followers to purchase. To start with, we have some smaller items, polo shirts and prints. In the New Year we will be adding larger equipment, including some of the cross country jumps which are not going to Scone Palace.

We are all utterly devestated to learn of Claire Lomas MBE’s untimely death.

Dan, their girls and her family are very much in our thoughts 💔

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Claire Lomas. Our thoughts are with Claire's loved ones and friends. Claire's family have asked us to publish the following statement:

Where do we even begin with our thank yous?!

… With our volunteers, that’s where.

Very simply, there would never have even been a Blair Castle Horse Trials in 1978, or any subsequent year, without our army of volunteers - incredible people who give up their time for free, often travelling 100s of miles to stand outside in all weathers so that our competitors and spectators alike can enjoy our sport.

There aren’t enough “thank yous” in the world to express how grateful we are to every single person who has gifted us their time over the last 50 years.

And it would be incredibly remiss of us to not extend a very special thank you to volunteer- coordinator extraordinaire, Lyndsay and her band of merry helpers who have ensured that everyone has been looked after impeccably, sent to the right place at the right time, been fed and watered and event entertained for the entire week. A mammoth task - executed perfectly!

Never without a smile on their faces, no matter what role they had or what the good old Scottish weather threw at them, our volunteer team are, and have always been, quite simply THE BEST.

Thank you. For everything 🙏🏻

The moment before ➡️ the moment itself ➡️ the celebration ❤️

There was scarcely a dry eye on the estate (and not just because we were all getting rained on!) when last year’s Blair CCI4*-L titleholder Wills Oakden took the title again — and for the final time — with Keep It Cooley. Forever more, the reigning Blair champion, keeping the win right at home in Scotland. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Former HOYS show jumper Robe Park Bobby only began his eventing career 3 years ago when he joined jockey Sophia Elliot’s stable. Competing in both the pony and rider’s first ever 2*, the pair gave everything they had to jump clear and inside the time around today’s cross country to add nothing to their dressage score and climb from 5th to take the win!

Speaking afterwards, Sophia said, “This is my first two-star and my first ever time at Blair Castle. I’ve produced Bobby from being a pure showjumper to being an event pony in three years. We’ve taught each other to be brave cross country because he gives his rider a lot of confidence!
I had my brilliant trainer Phil Brown with me and he helped us with really useful tactics for today so I could look after Bobby but still be quick and clear around the course. We both loved it!”

Finishing in 2nd place were Florence Drewitt (GBR) and Mrs Helen Drewitt’s Battlestown Delight followed by Chloe Chan (GBR) and her own Blennerville Rua who completed the podium by taking 3rd.

The inimitable Piggy March led from the start to top the podium in the CCI3*L with Mrs Susie Wood’s Cooley Goodwood. Directly replicating her Blair Castle 2018 results Piggy also finished 3rd on Andrew Nicholson’s Filipo.

Swiss rising star Nadja Minder arrived in the UK to base herself with Piggy a week ago and finished a brilliant 2nd to her UK hosts with her own Top Job’s Jalisco…

After his aunt Frances Hay-Smith won the first ever long-format 2* here at Blair in 1989, it was a fitting end to the final CCI2*L when Wills Oakden Eventing (GBR) jumped an immaculate clear with Mr Daniel Ockenden and Mrs Stephanie Oakden’s Mile Beach to take the win today.

Less than 0.4 points behind Wills was Matt Heath Eventing (GBR) and his own and Mrs Clare Davis’ Sugar Rush TH who took second, with Max Warburton Eventing (GBR) and Brookfield In The Darco owned by Mrs Alison Swinburn and John and Chloe Perry in third.

Blair Castle 27th - 30th August 2020

Welcome to the Land Rover Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair (27th - 30th August 2020) - Scotland's premier equestrian event.

The event with something for everyone…

Equestrian sport dominates the four days, competitors ranging from Olympic champions to local Pony Club children and everyone in between, and many different types of equestrian competition can be seen. If you are not especially horse-crazy though, fear not, there is still plenty to watch and lots of things to keep you entertained!

The Country Fair…
