Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary to L&C🥂

A year ago the weather was sunny and warm, guests enjoyed the outdoor ceremony held at the top of the avenue of holly trees then an afternoon of lawn games followed by some tasty food and fabulous music.

As Richard Perkins says, an early morning and evening walk through the garden and orchard is really important to check on all the plants and animals.

A massive thank you to all those who braved the weather - which improved throughout the day - and came to our Scotland's Gardens Scheme open day.

We raised a huge £808.10 for all the SGS charities, one of which is the wonderful Maggie Centre at Ninewells, which is an amazing quiet support to so many people and their families going through Cancer treatment.

Many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers and helpers who baked for us, Eilidh, Sophia and Lexa; and the lovely Duke of Edinburgh Award's Scheme Starfish Way volunteers as well as Sarah and all the others who helped with tickets.

The Drummond pears are nearly ripe!

The Drummond pear is a Scottish pear variety bred at Megginch in the 19th century. The red and yellow of the Drummond flag is reflected in the colours of the fruit.

The Megginch orchard houses two National Fruit Collections, the Scottish Heritage Apples and Pears collection, alongside the Scottish Cider Apples and Tidnot Wood Collection. Both collections are registered with Plant Heritage, which is the UK-wide charity conserving British garden (and orchard!) plant diversity.

The orchard is used as a safe space for The Starfish Way, a unique initiative run by the Perth and Kinross Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme, supporting young people facing life challenges, and as such is not open to the public except by appointment.

These angel’s wings appeared whilst tidying the Chapel today in preparation for our wedding open day this coming Sunday, 3rd April.

We had a lovely weekend showing new couples around Megginch Castle as their potential wedding venue.
