If you don’t report it, it may as well have not happened.

Our Fisheries Enforcement Support Service has Regional Enforcement Support Managers who are helped greatly by the reports from the Angling Trust’s Voluntary Bailiffs (VB’s). The VB’s receive support and training, being constantly reminded to report everything they see to the relevant authorities. This same reminder goes out to all of you, because if you see something suspicious and don’t report it, it may as well not have happened.

The Environment Agency 24hr hotline 0800 80 70 60 should be first port of call, as well as the Police on 101, or 999 in emergencies.

Sadly, it appears poaching is on the increase again at our lovely pond at Old Shotton Hall with Police in attendance on a number of occasions. If any of our members witness any form of Anti Social Behaviour that includes poaching, please do not hesitate to telephone the Environment Agency or Peterlee Constabulary without delay. Thank you.

🌟 Attention, everyone! 🌟

You may have noticed new signs around Shotton Hall advising the public that there are 'No Dogs allowed on the formal lawn areas within the grounds'. (main lawn outside the Suites and also the floral gardens to the side of the Hall. Beyond the Ha-Ha wall, near the pond is fine to walk your dogs on a lead and the rest of the grounds.

Our dedicated Neighbourhood Services Team work tirelessly to keep the grounds beautiful, so let's do our part to keep Shotton Hall clean and enjoyable for everyone.

Please remember to respect the new signs and keep your dogs off the formal lawn areas. Also a gentle reminder that all dogs should be kept on a lead when walking throughout the grounds & clean up after your dogs (there is a sign at the main entrance)🐾🌳

Thank you for your cooperation! 🙏💚

It gives us great pleasure in being able to announce that our very first event promoting angling will be held on 4th May 2024 - "Spring into Fishing". We are aiming to get youngsters and families who maybe have not fished before, or those who have tried in the past and want to take it up again. This is totally supported by the Angling Trust. The Angling Trust will provide all equipment and a fishing licence for you on the day; IT IS TOTALLY FREE TO YOU!!!!!

There will be two, two-hour sessions on the day 10:00-12:00 & 13:00-15:00. You must register for this event. Please register your interest on the Angling Trust website : https://anglingtrust.net/2024/03/08/2024-spring-into-fishing/

"Going fishing is one of the nation’s most popular pastimes because people who go fishing fall in love with the way it combines being in nature, healthy activity and proven mental health benefits – it relaxes you, gives you a reason to get off your screen and a chance to forget about the challenges of daily life and the rising cost of living."

"Fishing is a low-cost activity that only needs a small amount of money and time to do. It’s easy to get into with a few bits of fishing tackle and a fishing licence. Children under 13 do not need a licence, and licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free but you still need to register and receive a licence to go fishing. You can get a licence for the full year, for 8 days (ideal for holidays!) or just a day’s fishing. at www.gov.uk/fishing-licences."
