Marras pick up comfortable three points against Chester-le-Street Town Horden Community Welfare claimed a comfortable three points with a 4-0 win at home to Chester-le-Street Town on Friday night. Philly Angus scored a brace for the Marras, while Taylor Campbell and Jack Pounder were also on the scoresheet. Upon kick-off, Horden had an earlier half sight of goal as Pounder's glancing header drifted wide, before the deadlock was broken with 10 minutes played....

Morecambe is one of the Football League grounds I've had on my radar for a little while, and I decided a few weeks ago to target this game as an opportunity to tick it off. A 19:00 kick-off is more difficult to get to from work, but it means the time you get back is quite a bit earlier. I travelled straight over from work (about 2 hours 10 minutes with the traffic) and arrived right on kick-off....

Colliers pegged back to point by Blue Star Easington Colliery were pegged back to a 2-2 draw at home to Newcastle Blue Star on Saturday afternoon. Goals from Brad Hird and Andrew Nelson had the Colliers firmly in control by the hour mark, but Dan Lanning pulled one back for Blue Star before a controversial 95th minute own goal grabbed the visitors a point....

Having done a few grounds at a higher level, it has been a little while since my last Northern Counties East League ground. This Friday night game was a good chance to get back on track with hoping to complete division one. I had seen a few pictures of this ground and thought it looked interesting, but even then, I was pleasantly surprised....

Colliers beat Consett to progress in Durham Challenge Cup Easington Colliery beat Consett 2-1 on Thursday evening to progress to the third round of the Durham Challenge Cup. Goals from James Fairley and Luke Pearn helped the Colliers to the points, with Will Shaw pulling one back for Consett. Both sides had a player sent off with Kieran Alpin sent off in a straight red for Consett, while Ryan Taylor was dismissed for the Green Army with two yellows....

I was going to do Middlesbrough U21s vs Borussia Monchengladbach U21s tonight, and I considered just staying down on Teesside after work, but I didn't really fancy staying down there, and I didn't fancy going back down after going home. I quite fancied a Northern League game, and after slightly deliberation about Silksworth CW vs Gateshead Leam Rangers, I opted for the night's only Northern League game....

It was around a 13 minute drive from where I had parked for Blackburn Rovers to Bamber Bridge. I haven't watched Morpeth since they were away to York City in the FA Trophy in February 2022, but I turned into quite a Morpeth fan for this game. Lucas Weaver put Bamber Bridge ahead in the 12th minute, only for Rhys Evans to convert a 19th minute rebound after Luke James' penalty was saved to pull Morpeth level....

This game had been in the plan for quite a while. I've decided on some of my free Saturdays, I'm going to look at the possibility of doing two new grounds. The first will be one of the many 12:30 Football League games, and then a local non-league game. This one and then Bamber Bridge vs Morpeth Town looked perfect (although I would have preferred a game on the way back from Blackburn rather than further away!) …...

Colliers take from points from Redcar Easington Colliery became the first team to win away at Redcar Athletic this season with a superb 2-1 win at Green Lane on Friday night. Brad Hird scored a brace for the Colliers in an outstanding performance, while former Collier Callum Guy was on the scoresheet for Redcar. Upon kick-off, the Colliers started well, and the game's first chance saw James Fairley drag a shot wide for Easington....

I've always liked the Premier League International Cup as you get to watch teams and players you definitely don't normally see in England. There was a spell where no north east teams were in it, but this season, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are in the same group. I've decided I'm going to try to watch the four European teams in that group at either Boro or Sunderland....

I had a few options in the Northern Counties East League on Tuesday night, but this one took my fancy when I noticed it was being played. I probably would have done Clitheroe a couple of years ago when over there for a weekend a couple of years ago, but it was right at the end of the season and I could only go to Waddington (a rather low level)....

A weekend quite high up in Scotland led to another opportunity to get to a new ground. We could have headed south towards Perth, but I thought it made sense to head north and go to a Highland League game or somewhere in the Inverness region. I was hoping Clachnacuddin would be at home in the Scottish Cup, but they were drawn away, and then I noticed this game....

Colliers narrowly beaten at Boro Rangers Easington Colliery were narrowly beaten 3-2 away to high flying Boro Rangers on Wednesday night. Brad Hird put the Colliers ahead, and Luke Pearn was also on the scoresheet, but goals from Steven Keenan, Callum Hickman and Ashley MacCarthy helped the hosts to the three points. A squad delpeted with injuries and unavailabilities traveled to Boro Rangers, with new face Callum Haswell among four on the bench....

Marras held to point at RCA Horden Community Welfare were held to a 2-2 draw at Sunderland RCA on Tuesday night. RCA twice led through Jackson Ward and Dan Maw, but Horden equalised twice with goals from Jack Pounder and Ben Henderson. Horden were the better team, but they couldn't find a winner as the points were shared. Horden were looking the brighter early on, and a couple of half chances were created in the opening 10 minutes....

A trip to tick off a new city and country in Brussels was always going to lead to me looking at the possibility of getting to a football game. We travelled on the DFDS from North Shields to Amsterdam on Thursday night, and then we made our way down to Brussels on Friday. When I looked at football in Brussels/Belgium, this game immediately became the game I wanted to do....

Newcastle took the points in this Wear-Tyne Derby, but I thought Sunderland had the better of the chances. The crowd (not seen a figure) probably wasn't as high as they had hoped for, and the pieces of plastic on every seat were just a bit silly really.
