Bott brace beats North Shields Thomas Bott scored a brace as Easington Colliery booked their spot in the third round of the Northern League Cup with a 3-0 win at home to North Shields on Thursday night. Bott scored in the 20th and 61st minute, and a Reece Kenney goal in injury time ensured the Green Army of progression to the last 16 where they'll host West Allotment Celtic....

It's starting to feel like I'm getting close to completing the Northern Counties East League. After this one, I've got five left, and they should all be done in the next month or so. It's quite a basic ground at Appleby Frodingham with the club coming up from step 7 only this season. There is one small stand with seats, and the almost eastern European 1970s esque building is the main feature of the ground....

This game provided a couple of firsts for me. It was the first time I've ever watched a Champions League game, and it was the first time I've visited a club where I've had a proper organised paid for tour of as well as watching a game. For proper tours, I've only ever done Manchester City, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund. When I noticed tickets were available for this game around a month ago, I decided to go for it....

This game continued the quest to get the Northern Counties East League complete before the end of the season. It is slightly surprising I hadn't already been here as it's only an hour and 20 minutes from home on a clear run, although it is still 80 odd miles. I'm writing this on the Friday night having been here, then Manchester City on Wednesday night and Easington last night!...

I was pleasantly surprised by this ground. It has two 200 seater stands, as well as a couple of other stands and plenty of facilites. There is also plenty of room to develop. It's better than some Northern Premier League grounds. Armthorpe were in control of the game, and won it with goals from Mitchell Pattinson and Alfie Charlotte. This game wasn't in the plan for today, but when we noticed it was after the Rangers Fraserburgh game, we considered it. We would obviously miss some of either game, but we expected Rangers to be comfortably ahead at Ibrox. In the end, they were, and we left a little bit early to get to this game at Hamilton Accies. I think today may have been the first time I've ever watched the men's team and the women's team of a club on the same day, especially with them being at different grounds....

This game was suggested to be by Rory Drake during the week. I would normally say Ibrox is too far to drive, but with it being on a free day for me, and with it being a club as big as Rangers, I thought it was worth it. It was a three hour trip up to Ibrox, but we were there in plenty of time for this 14:15 Scottish Cup tie against Highland League opposition in Fraserburgh....

It had been a little while before this one since my last Northern Counties East League ground, but this one got me back on track for getting to every ground in division one of it by the end of the season. I doubt there are many people who will say Armthorpe is one of their favourite grounds, but I really enjoyed my visit....

Bramall Lane has been on my radar for a little while now, and when this game was scheduled for a Thursday night with fairly reasonably priced tickets, I decided it was worth doing. I watched Cardiff away to Sheffield Wednesday in the third round of the FA Cup last year, and this year, I've watched them away to Sheffield United in the third round!...

I didn't have a game planned for early this midweek with a trip to Sheffield United on Thursday, but when the days came round, I thought I may as well do another new ground! Three games were being played in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. Mickleover is a little bit too far for a Tuesday night, and so it was either this or Ashton....
