UPDATE:
Lovely bride this afternoon, made me happy. Life is good again!
I don’t tend to get annoyed, but, this picture shows my shop with no customers and yet an appointment was booked. This is why shops charge for appointments.
you go in and put the lights on you put your heaters on you get excited to meet your lovely new bride to be you pay for a whole day on the local car park because you have an afternoon appointment booked in
you wait, you phone, you message, you wait again and then ……
you feel sad and a little angry.
Now of course I appreciate things happen in life so unexpectedly, but generally it’s just bad manners and I know how many of the independent boutiques suffer from the no shows. Sorry to sound so negative, but running a business is a tough job however enjoyable and not feeling it today 🥲 However, this afternoon will bring joy ☺️🥰.

Who fancies a bit of modelling? Last year was a lot of fun!
This year Twirl is doing Blacknest Golf & Coutry Club near Farnham, and The festival Hall, Petersfield. 17th Sept and 1st Oct respectively
I need ladies who are various sizes, confident about putting on a dress and walking around the wedding fayre customers and chatting. There will be no fashion shows at either venue, so one dress each, show off a few accessories etc. Both shows are 11-3 but you wont be needed for the whole time and we could stagger times?

🥳🍾 4 years ago today, I walked through the doors of my gorgeous bridal shop as the new owner! Since then I have met amazing people (brides, families, suppliers and more,) been to wedding fayres, been part of photoshoots, followed the stories of so many brides to be, kept the business afloat ( just) through the pandemic (🙏) and generally had a blast! Onwards into year 5 with zest and enthusiasm and a grateful heart ❤️ oh and by the way, there are some amazing new dresses in today- watch this space for news! 💖 &groom

As an independent trader, and at Twirl it is only me, you put a lot of behind the scenes work into your business. You dress the window, keep the shop clean, give your time to wonderful customers, keep the accountant happy with updates, select new stock, make investments, advertise, spend hours doing wedding fairs, have a lovely time and hopefully make some money!
You also pay for rent, utilities, stock, car parking, fuel to travel to work and of course your time away from your home and family commitments. You still enjoy it. It is truly a wonderful job to do. Happy people make me happy! It is just such a shame that there are people who do not give any of this a second thought and just don’t turn up for appointments booked especially for them without any notification! You just get left sitting there waiting. You may ask why should people think about all that? Well, independents work so hard to keep going. They Invest their own money, go over and above, put hours of work in for sometimes small rewards and really only expect respect and courtesy. I don’t usually post in a negative way, but I know it is not just my business that is having this problem so I felt tonight, after this very thing happening today, I needed to vent. To all the customers who I have met in the past and to all prospective new ones, thank you for making our times together so great and I will always look forward to meeting you all 😘
