The eagle-eyed amongst you might have noticed some "events" popping up. Christmas Wreath Workshops are now available for you to book (Newsletter subscribers had priority booking - so some dates are filling up!)

All workshops run 10.30am - 1.30pm

Workshop places are £60 per person

Wow! I’ve just realised that I started My Flower Patch 14 years ago today!

So many weddings, parties, events and workshops since then. So many flowers!

It’s certainly not the same business I started back in 2010. Ever evolving, thriving and flourishing. Changing and adapting with me and my family. I have created a business that I am proud of and that has given me experiences, skills and knowledge that I could never have imagined back then.

I may not be posting as much at the moment, but I’m busy behind the scenes don’t you worry.

Thank you to all the customers, supporters, friends and my family who have been there through the ride! Lots more twists and turns and evolutions to come! 💕🔥🙌

Funeral flowers are an incredibly special part of my business. I believe that being able to create flowers to say goodbye to someone that truly represents that person as they were when they were alive is something very special.

Flowers can be arranged in my own take on a traditional style coffin topper or double-ended spray. A hand-gathered sheaf of flowers, a circular funeral wreath, or an individual design created with that person in mind. Floral foam is not used in any arrangements.

Floral tributes designed for an eco-friendly or green burial that are totally compostable and biodegradable are a speciality. Everything used in their construction will go back to nature and leave nothing behind but memories.

When it is possible I love to be able to harvest a few stems of foliage or flowers from either the garden of the deceased or the garden of their loved ones, creating a truly personal service.

Floral displays for Celebration of Life Services are also a beautiful option. I can help you decide what would be most appropriate for your service.

By popular demand, My Flower Patch will be offering a limited number of Mother’s Day Bouquets this year.

Bouquets will be available for collection from Upavon, or delivery within 7 miles of Upavon. A map of the delivery area is shown in the photos.

Show your Mum, your Mother-in-Law, your Step-Mum, your Mum-like figure in your life, or the Mother of your children, you love them with beautiful British-grown flowers.

Bouquets are available at £45, £55 and £65

A glass vase can be included in your order for an additional £10.

Delivery slots are available on Saturday 9th March, or premium delivery on Sunday 10th March. Delivery cost depends on distance and the day chosen. Collection from my home in Upavon is available on either day.

Flowers are expensive, there is no getting around that.

They are a luxury product. But to me they are an integral part of a wedding. A gorgeous, scented, emotional part of your wedding. The photos you display on your wall for years afterwards will most likely feature them; flowers that feature at your wedding will help rekindle memories of your special day when you see them again in the future.

Helping to make your flower budget go as far as possible is something I am practised in. Whether that is suggesting ways that flower designs can be used at your ceremony as well as at your reception or suggesting how to adapt ideas to get the most impact.

Another big thing for my couples is sustainability, and that extends for me into what happens to the flowers after your big day. This forms part of your wedding consultation with me, and we talk about what happens to your flowers after your wedding so that we can work out the best options for your circumstances.

Sometimes that is asking guests to bring along a vase or jar to take some flowers home, sometimes that is me designing in a container that can be given away. If you are heading straight off after your wedding, I can also offer a breakdown service where I come and collect everything and donate the flowers to local people.

Whatever you decide to do with them, I encourage you to make sure they are enjoyed for longer than just your big day, by you, by your family & friends, or by local people that I donate them to who wouldn’t normally buy themselves flowers. This is another way to spread the love and reduce the footprint of your wedding.

Traditions.

Weddings are full of traditions. Some of which you might want to honour, and some you can choose to leave behind.

I LOVE the fact that weddings can be so personalised, so individual. You can invent your own traditions and make your wedding truly you.

So, Buttonholes, who traditionally has them? Who doesn’t need them? Well, it’s sort of down to you - sorry - maybe you wanted a more detailed answer than that!

We have pinned buttonholes or corsages onto Best Men, Best Women, Best People, Bride’s Best men, Groom’s people, Wedding attendants, Dads, Stepdads, Ushers, Uncles, Mums, Mum in Laws, Step Mums, Brothers, Sisters, Guards of Honour, Friends and we have also displayed them for Absent Friends, We’ve even pinned them on the occasional Groom 😉 But some Grooms don’t want a buttonhole and that’s their individual choice too.

We’ve done no buttonholes for 1 wedding, the most we’ve had was 18 buttonholes and 6 corsages for the same wedding.

But if you want to know what tradition says, then important men at the wedding wear a Buttonhole on their left lapel with the flowers pointing up towards the shoulder, and important women wear a corsage on their right with the flowers pointing down. Who is important again is down to you, but traditionally it would be the fathers of the couple, and any attendants such as Best Men or Ushers.

Your wedding journey with me starts with receiving my wedding brochure and filling out my contact form. If I have your date available we get together for a video chat, where I get very excited about flowers, and share lots of photos with you. Scribbling notes about your ideas & thoughts, the feelings & emotions you want your wedding flowers to convey. We discuss budget, design requirements and colour palettes.

Then I go away & get geeky with my quotation spreadsheet & creative with my Canva mood board. Pulling together inspiration images we've viewed and calculating the cost of your dream wedding flowers. I usually give you a few options, especially if your ideas are coming in over budget, and then we work together to get the most impact for your money.

Once you have booked and paid a £200 booking fee we often don’t speak again until about 8 weeks before your wedding. I’m always available for booked clients, but tend to find that once we are booked it’s a while until we are in touch again. I’ll contact you for a final consultation and then your final balance is due 6 weeks before your big day.

Couples tend to say I’m friendly, organised, professional and a calming influence on the run up to, what let’s face it is a stressful day. I’ve been called a magician, and a calming wedding coach.

What is my style?

These are some of the styles people come to me looking for. And some words they have used in feedback after their event.

For funerals one of my most searched terms are funeral flowers for a gardener, or natural funeral flowers. For weddings it is usually natural wedding flowers.

Sometimes people think my designs are planted as they think they look so natural. As if the flowers are growing right there in your venue.

My style is also “foam-free”, I don’t use traditional florist foam, as it is a micro-plastic, and pretty yucky stuff for the environment. I have spent years developing and perfecting mechanics and methods so that your beautiful flowers have minimal impact on the planet. Some folk call me an “eco-florist” or say that I use sustainable floristry techniques. I’m very happy to be proud of both those titles.

I use British-grown flowers and foliage and continue to re-use and recycle mechanics as part of my way of working. During a wedding consultation, we will chat about what you intend to do with your flowers after your celebration, and I can help you with options to re-use them and get the most out of them for the duration of your day and beyond.
