A Vaulting Camp

Our vaulting camp is a group day running from 10.30-3.30pm at our base in Killiecrankie. We start off with learning skills like lying, kneeling, standing etc the barrel (fake horse) then move on to the real horse. Depending on fitness/ ability you should learn between 25-30 different moves on the horse.
⭐️ Suitable of all levels, beginner to advanced
⭐️ 6 years old up to adults
⭐️ Adult weight limit of 14 stone
⭐️ Up to a year to use the voucher, the first date able to book is Friday 16th February 2024.

Day 6 of our 12 days of Christmas deal is………..

Cavalry Camp

Our Cavalry Camp is a full two day group course at our base in Killiecrankie. The course includes tuition in drill riding, sword and staff fighting on the ground, jousting, horse stunt skills (falling off, being dragged off and more), cabbage chopping and mini mock battles.

⭐️ Suitable for riding with basic walk and trot abilities
⭐️ 10 years old up to adults
⭐️Adult weight limit is 16 stone
⭐️Certain weekend days throughout the summer months
⭐️ Only 6 people on each course to allow plenty of horse time and personalised tuition.
⭐️ Tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day.

Day 5 of our 12 days of Christmas deals is………

Our 3-day Stunt Experience!!!

Our 3-day Stunt experience is absolutely full of lots of horse fun starting at 9am till 6pm and 4pm finish on the last day. Tuition will include:

Vaulting
Trick riding
Jousting
Horse combat
Sword fighting
Circus skills
Ariel hoop
Rider fitness
Mini performance and photo shoot on the last day

⭐️ Must be able to walk and trot unassisted
⭐️ 8 years old up to adults
⭐️ Adult weight limit of 14 stone
⭐️ This three day experience will run from the 8th till 10th April 2024 and will be the last experience we run like this for the foreseeable future.

⭐️⭐️As I said in my previous post, there are a few changes happening at Riders of the Storm. ⭐️⭐️

The first change:
After 12 years of fantastic summer show seasons, we have decided to have a break from performing with our display team. This year has been very difficult losing our team mum, Amanda, so we are going to spend a little more time at home and concentrate on teaching. We are going to be putting on one last display in spring next year to raise money for Maggies cancer care centre who have helped our family so much this year as a tribute to my wonderful mum. There will be details to follow very soon.

The second change is to our lessons:
As of the 24th May our teaching will be limited to the following:
Vaulting lessons and camps
Riding flatwork or jumping lessons
Confidence riding lessons and courses.
Vaulting have a go days and lecture demos.

From the 24th of May, we will not offer trick riding, jousting, horse combat and 3/5 day stunt experience camps. So if you love any of these activities, please make sure you get them booked ASAP.

Day 4 of our 12 days of Christmas deal is………..

Jousting Experience

Our jousting experience is a two hour private session at our base in Killiecrankie. We start of learning about the equipment used and how to safely handle the lances. We then move on to learning to control the horse one handed, progressing from there we take on various targets, some static and some that spin. We can also get you fully dressed up as a knight for picture opportunities or to see what it felt like to be a real knight!!

⭐️ Suitable for riding with basic walk and trot abilities
⭐️ 6 years old up to adults
⭐️Adult weight limit is 16 stone
⭐️Till 20th May 2024 to use your voucher
⭐️ If you love speed it’s better to be booked outside in the summer months.
⭐️ Why not bring a friend and we can set up a friendly tournament

Day 3 of our 12 days of Christmas deals is………

A Trick Riding Experience!!

Our Trick Riding experience is a two hour private session at our base in Killiecrankie. You will learn moves like standing on the side of the saddle, lying on the saddle, standing up and progressing onto hanging tricks. Depending on fitness/ ability you should learn between 10-15 different moves on the horse, in this session, starting with the horse standing still and moving up through the paces.

⭐️Good level of fitness required/ must exercise regularly
⭐️ 8 years old up to adults
⭐️ Adult weight limit of 14 stone
⭐️ Have until the 20th May to use your voucher

A Confidence Riding Experience!!

Our Confidence riding experience is a two hour private session at our base in Killiecrankie using our fully trained riding school/ stunt horses. This experience is tailored to the participants confidence needs, as everyone’s an individual.

We can work on any of the following skills
🐎Learn how to fall off as safely as possible
🐎 Learn how to deal with spooky behaviour and prevent it.
🐎 Improving your balance and posture
🐎 Desensitisation for horses
🐎 Groundwork, liberty, lunging and long reining
🐎 Confidence coping techniques and positive mindset training.
🐎 Hack confidence
🐎 Jumping confidence

⭐️ 6 years old up to adults

This weekend was bitter sweet, we said goodbye to Dainty and Dexter who are off to a lovely new home where they are going to be spoiled rotten with lots of love and affection. We have had lots of changes throughout this year and there are going to be more announcements coming soon. For now we are happy that Bruar, Leo, Dainty and Dexter are all in new loving homes and a big bonus that Dainty and Dexter are still going to be available to hire for events with their new owners. 🥰🐎 Thanks ponies for all the great memories we have shared! 🏖️🦄🧚🎿🎄

Excited to finally get Billy to a dressage competition and we managed a 3rd and 5th. Superstar ⭐️ pony! We have been working really hard to improve his canter for vaulting, as canter doesn’t come naturally to him. Super happy with all the improvements we are making, onwards and upwards 💪🥰

Some fun pair challenges tonight at Pegasus training, working on timing and feeling the canter strides. 💪also getting creating with the different variations of clapping. sun and Isla’s is my favourite! There are a few spaces available for riding lessons on our wonderful pony George. These are for children aged 6-9 years old, 30 minutes slots from complete beginners to more experienced riders.

Mondays 4pm and 4.30pm, every two weeks.
Friday 5.30pm, every two weeks.
Saturdays two a month 3.30pm.

Make over day for Dexter 🥰🐎 As we have been away so much throughout the summer the horses at home were starting to look a little wild, especially with their winter coats coming in. All spruced up now, 👌. Dexter was such an angel for me as he is only the second horse I’ve clipped as Amanda used to love clipping them all. Fun challenge, now my back needs a rest 🤣🐎

This horse 🥰🐎 As some of you may already know Pilgrim didn’t settle easily into competition/show environments. He has always been sensitive to noise and movement going on around him. He behaved impeccably well last weekend at the Scottish vaulting championships looking after all his little vaulters so I decided it was time to bring him out to a big show. With brass bands, pipe bands and reenactment groups with gun fire all performing at the same time on the mile, with hundred of people watching, this was the day (most people thought I was mad 😰) 4x 20 minute shows and he didn’t disappoint, after a few minutes looking around he managed to settle well into his job and made us all so very proud of him and how far he has come. 😇🐎 Also a massive thanks to Lorna for leading him and calming him so well. 🤞 he is this calm at the British championships in mid October!

Brilliant day at the Scottish Vaulting Championships from the Pegasus Team! Vaulters all did an amazing job with lots of prizes and personal bests. Horses were all superstars, especially Billy who won best Scottish individual horse 🏆🐎
