Dragonfly Yurts is a local business using local materials to create a beautiful and unique Yurt. Ideal for creating an extra bit of space in the garden to relax in front of a log burning stove or perfect for hosting parties/events/dinners and now small weddings for up to 50 seated. Each Yurt is hand built to order by Dave in his workshop and can be designed to suit any specific requirements. Yurts

are available to hire and we have all the interior furniture and log burning stoves to ensure you have a cosy and homely space even if it is just for the weekend. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. We also have our own Yurt if you would like to have a look.

When we began the Yurt journey we knew Light was a must. It’s perhaps not traditional to have windows and such large crowns but the feeling it creates is soothing and calming.

A 3 day hire period is our usual hire but if we can we give you an extra day if it’s your wedding. We know how important it is to have everything set up and time to decorate.
That is one of the benefits of hiring a yurt, the flexibility to suit you and to take the stress away

How we became Dragonfly Yurts. Back in 2011 our daughter’s friend died from a rare cancer and at her funeral her dad read out this story of the Dragonfly.
Having experienced the death of our baby girl Flora and Dave losing his brother in a tragic accident at 17, it resonated deeply and brought a feeling of hope and comfort.
We knew instantly it had to be Dragonfly Yurts, a place where all the stresses of life can be left at the door and somehow the magic of life can be felt and 2 worlds can be together.
We all experience loss but it didn’t have to be the end of us living the fullest life we can, especially for those who are above the water.
They say Dragonflies have 2 sets of wings, one to carry an angel down to you to let you know all is well.
So all of you who have hired/bought a yurt you are part of our Dragonfly family, meant to be 🙏

10 years this year from a shed at the bottom of the garden Dragonfly Yurts was created.
Dave had always wanted to do something creative but never had the belief it was possible.
Life has a way of redirecting you onto your path and that’s exactly what happened. 20 years of being a Paramedic took its toll and he felt lost
I’ll tell the story of how the Yurts came about tomorrow but safe to say his creative spark was lit and being a crafty female, I tasked him to make me a yurt which he did carefully hand peeling the rafters which are beautiful and it’s a testament to his care and perfectionism.
The workshop was moved as the business grew and now we have 8 yurts and one more on the way, each one lovingly handcrafted.
Like children there has been teething, tantrums and tears but what a gift we were given and the Yurts take us all around Scotland, meeting incredible people and creating smiles & connections
PS we both spent years in the RAF staring at beige which is why we love colour

Our first ever outing with a yurt back in 2016 to the SECC in Glasgow. The OM Yoga Show where we put up this yurt amongst the bright lights and white plastic stalls.
It was packed all day and we were left without a voice but proud of what we had created. This is Katrino from holding a Yin class and has become family since that day.
From 1 to 8 soon to be 9 yurts strong

Every Wedding needs a Whisky Bar & this one was exceptional.
Our 20ft yurt pretty loud in canvas colours, 2 sets of doors and a large clear crown and windows for lots of light.

Wellness workshops, I’ve held many over the last 10 years and they fit like a glove with the yurts. There is nothing quite like it for adding that ingredient if your passion is helping others feel good.

Flat ground with the grass cut or it is possible on hard ground too.

Easy access to the site, as close as possible makes it quicker & more straightforward.

A power source for the fairy lights

That’s it, we really are quite easy to please but there is one thing that makes it for the boys
✨
Tea and biscuits or even homemade cake then you have gone to the top of our favourite hires list 😀

The perfect venue for the perfect day. How everyone decorates their tables is always a joy to see. So much thought and details into the food, decorations and place settings.
As someone said to us the Yurts need no decorations really as they are a thing of beauty in themselves but your details always enhance what’s already there
