Sarah Leanney Humanist Celebrant

Sarah Leanney Humanist Celebrant Creating bespoke & beautiful Humanist wedding, funeral, baby naming and vow renewal ceremonies. Never settle for ordinary!

Everybody is fantastically unique and everybody deserves to have their major life events celebrated in a way that is entirely personal, joyous, heartfelt and momentous. For me, this is the very essence of Humanism. Making the most of the one life we have, seeking to understand the world through logic, reason, and evidence, and treating those around us with warmth, understanding and respect. Whethe

r it is the joyous celebration of a marriage, the loving remembrance of a life well lived, the festivity of welcoming a new life or the re-affirmation of a couple’s special commitment to one another, I will work directly with you to share your unique story and create a heart-warming and truly memorable occasion in exactly the way you wish. Throughout my previous 20 years in the world of estate agency, I loved learning all about my clients, building close relationships with them, being the steadying hand that guided them through times of stress and providing the best experience possible for them. These professional skills, combined with an outgoing personality and a lively sense of humour, made becoming a Humanist Celebrant a natural choice for me. After having attended Humanist ceremonies, and particularly the wedding of my own daughter, I realised that becoming a Humanist Celebrant would be one of the most rewarding roles I would ever undertake. To be a part of people’s most momentous life events is an honour, and to be able to create and deliver a celebration which is entirely fitting and unique is an absolute privilege. This role enables me to combine my professional approach with a genuine enthusiasm for getting to know people and learning about their amazing lives. When I’m not up to my elbows in a varied range of crafts, I can be found dragging my husband of 33 years on adventures around the country in my campervan, throwing myself into freezing cold water in the hope that it will let me live forever, or laughing like a drain with friends and family.

The Dash is a wonderful poem that captures the space between the dates on a headstone. I had the honour of sharing the details of Joan Howden's dash from her childhood in the beautiful Sutherland village of Hope right through her 98 years. This much loved Mum, Gran and great-Gran will never be forgotten ❤️. Many thanks to WT Dunbar Funeral Directors and the staff at Warriston Crematorium.

It was a privilege to help the family and friends of Lillian Graham say goodbye yesterday. Lillian was affectionately known as the Sergeant Major in her family and had a wicked sense of humour. She drew on her own experiences as an army wife to guide and support other military families, and her loyalty and sense of fun and joyfulness will always be treasured. ❤️ Many thanks to Fiona, Jamie and the team at Co-op Funeralcare and the staff at West Lothian Crematorium.

What a pleasure it was to hear Lucy and Finlay's beautiful personal vows yesterday, which they declared over an oathing stone. There was no better way to begin married life than surrounded by the people they most love, gathered together at the stunning Glenbervie House. Here's to a lifetime of happiness Mr and Mrs Walker! ❤️

Alex McGlynn loved the peace and solitude of the countryside, and was at his happiest when he was out walking. The beauty he saw in nature inspired his painting and poetry, and I got to share some of his beautiful writing when we celebrated his life yesterday. A much-loved brother, uncle and friend, Alex will never be forgotten ❤️. Many thanks to Natalie and the team at Co-op Funeralcare and the staff at Falkirk Crematorium.

Joyce Marshall loved to write poetry and short stories, and her family have a wealth of her beautiful writing to remember her through. She also loved her walks through the Stewarton Woodlands with her beloved husband Bert, where she every day she would meet the robin and the blackbird that came to feed from her hand. An adored wife, Mum, Gran and friend - the memories of this compassionate, funny and family orientated lady will never be forgotten. Many thanks to Emma, Jamie and the team at Co-op Funeralcare and the staff at Holmsford Bridge Crematorium in Irvine.

Huge congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Noble! It was an absolute joy to help Kayleigh and Martin as they celebrated their commitment to one another at the King Robert Hotel. They performed a handfasting and commemorated the blending of their families with a beautiful sand ceremony. It was a day with much laughter and much love ❤️

Her beautiful garden in Bonnybridge was Isabel Forrester's "happy place", and no doubt many of her family's most treasured memories of her were when she was tending to it.
It was an honour to learn about the life of this quiet and reserved lady, who had boundless patience, a huge heart, and who’s life was orientated around her family. This much-loved Mum and Nana will be missed dearly ❤️
Many thanks to Natalie, Finlay and the team at Co-op Funeralcare and the staff at Falkirk Crematorium and Cemetery.

This week I helped a lovely family celebrate the life of their Mum and Nan. Carol Logue was an incredibly strong, independent woman who took enormous pride in having raised her daughter Linda alone, whilst carving out a career for herself. With a great sense of humour and a very forgiving nature, she was affectionate, loving, sometimes a wee bit feisty, but always adored. Her family will always know that she is "the butterfly, light and free". ❤️ Many thanks to Emma, Jamie and the team at Co-op Funeralcare and the staff at West Lothian Crematorium.
