What a difference a week makes!!

This time last week, the sun was shining, and it really felt like spring was here.

Continuing with the month of March, meet the florist, today's insight is in details!

I've taken a slightly different scoop on this from buttonholes and corsages. As much as I love creating these it turns out I rarely photo them.... this is probably because they're my last task of the evening before the wedding or my 4am task!!

So I've gone with all things extra details..... hair pieces, cake photo ops with the maids bouquets, table and aisle styling.... it's endless

I love elevating my designs with styling!

Candles, fabrics, natural or even man made 'nik-naks' and 'bits'. If it enhances the finish, then I'm all for it!

If you want to know what this florist looks like, shimmy on back a few grid spaces 🤣 looks like I shared that photo too soon! Thought I would share some prettiness instead.

So March is meet the maker month. I thought I would hop on this and tell you a bit more about my journey so far!

It's definitely been progressive! Why did I become a florist.... I'm not 100% sure. It's always been there in the background, but I honestly never imagined I would actually get to say I'm a florist.

I worked in mental health and children's services for a long time, having my own children made me reconsider, and Tiger Lily grew.

It was definitely seeing florists working on these beautiful weddings that made me take the steps to college, I wanted to do that too!! I did a few courses that enabled me to offer venue flowers alongside styling.

Then covid hit! I had an 11 week old baby at this point, home schooling and no weddings to work! By September, I desperately needed to do something just for me.
It was my time! Crazy right!! So off I went to get my level 3! I met some incredible people, had a blast, and came away with a distinction.

Lots of love for these beauties, a mix of fresh and dried flowers.

Full of rich, warm tones and the most sumptuous textures.

Not a bit of floral foam in use, chicken wire is perfect for pampas and the last minute fire place addition was a popped together with chicken wire and flower tubes.

Comfort zones.....

We all have confort zones right?

YEP, ✋️ that's me!

Stepping out of our zones and doing something different is massively daunting! No one wants to be judged or looked at differently!

Today I decided to step away from my norm and try a more contemporary design for a wedding showcase. The design was a hit. It's not perfect and I can see areas I could change for more impact and harmony but definitely glad I decided to be bold.

Sometimes it's definitely worth challenging ourselves.

I'm completely in love with yesterday's bridal bouquet.

Sumptious textures and colours came together perfectly to create this stunning early winter bouquet for my bride. Her maids and flower girl carried smaller complimentary designs which sadly I didn't get a photo of. The groomsmen wore classic white roses, with the groom and pageboys featuring elements of the bridal bouquet, they looked incredible on the gents burgundy jackets.

A crazy, beautiful wedding season

Gemma wanted a classic bridal bouquet full of beautiful roses with a touch of whimsical country. I used 5 varieties of rose, carnations, astilbe and eucalyptus to create this dreamy timeless.
