The association is very saddened to hear of the passing of Ross Cowie, an icon of Skye community and Highland sports. Alongside his greatest achievement in shinty, managing Skye to their Camanachd Cup victory, Ross was also deeply involved in the local football scenes for many years. He played for and managed Portree United in their most successful period in the Bagshaw League. He also played for the likes of the Youth Club, Wanderers and Portree in the old Skye league.

Ross was an inspiration for many and will be remembered fondly as a champion on the sports field as well as through his charitable work. We would like to extend our sympathies to his family and friends at this time. He will be deeply missed.
