FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 26th June 2024

Little Kanga Ltd Partners with Police to Promote Free Cyber Security Training for Micro and Small Businesses in the South East of the UK.
Little Kanga Ltd is pleased to announce its partnership with the police to offer free cyber security training for micro and small businesses/SMEs across the south east area of the UK. This initiative aims to equip local businesses with the essential skills and knowledge to protect themselves against the ever-increasing threat of cyber-crime.

In the dynamic world of digital business, the threat of cyber-crime looms large, regardless of the size of a company. Understanding the basics of cyber security and a business leaderā€™s role in maintaining it, is paramount to safeguarding not just the companyā€™s assets but also its reputation and the trust of its customers.

Statistics paint a sobering picture: cyber-crime now accounts for approximately 50% of all recorded crime. Recognising the severity of this threat, the Home Office has partnered with law enforcement to establish 9 Cyber Resilience Centres across England and Wales. The primary objective is to equip organisations of all sizes with the skills and knowledge necessary to defend themselves against online attacks, thereby fostering an environment where the UK is the safest place to live, work, and conduct business.

Membership in these Cyber Resilience Centres is entirely free. Upon joining, organisations receive a comprehensive information pack comprising various cyber security services and products. Additionally, they are offered a free consultation to assess their current cyber security posture and explore further assistance that the centre can provide.

Becky Lodge, Founder of Little Kanga Ltd, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, ā€œWe are delighted to partner with the Police Detective Inspector Chris White and the cyber resilience team to advocate for online business continuity and safety.

This initiative is a significant step towards ensuring that our small business community is well-equipped to face cyber threats, thus safeguarding their operations and contributing to a safer digital environment. This is a national programme that is open to all SMEs, so businesses I would encourage businesses to contact their local centre for more informationā€.

Chris White, Police Detective Inspector and head of the south east unit, emphasized the importance of such collaborations, saying, ā€œCompanies like Little Kanga Ltd and their membership led community ā€˜StartUp Disruptorsā€™ is key to providing a knowledge bridge for the police to assist business owners and leaders to ensure online safety for small business owners, who form the backbone of business in the UK today. I have seen first-hand the devasting effects of cyber-crime and I would encourage SMEs to reach out to their local centre for more free guidance and help and support.ā€

Micro and small business owners in the South East are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to strengthen their cyber security defences. To embark on your cybersecurity journey and access the free information pack, visit https://www.secrc.police.uk/partner/littlekanga for more information.

Exciting news! šŸŒŸ I'm thrilled to announce that the waitlist for Hampshire Meet The Buyer 2025 is now open!

From 2017-2019, I created this premium event to support SMEs in accessing large corporate buyers, councils, and education providers to enhance business growth and development opportunities. Turns out it was a smash hit.

In the last few weeks, many people have been asking me if the event is coming back, and if Little Kanga Ltd gets the interest, then I would love to deliver this again for you in 2025 as a hybrid event, which will mean that you can attend online or in person (buyers only available at the physical event location).

In light of upcoming UK government changes and the election, economic growth poses a significant challenge. Business leaders seek events focused on knowledge-sharing rather than sales pitches, and Hampshire Meet The Buyer delivers exactly that.

Our event caters to business developers looking for quality leads and conversions, while offering C-Suite executives a platform to enhance leadership skills and promote sales agendas.

An all day event with lunch included, we aim to make you feel included and comfortable with our events having a high level of service and a personal touch to ensure your needs are met.

We back this with our 100% money back guarantee and in 3 years, we have not refunded anything as everyone has been exceptionally happy with the event.

Interested in joining us at the Utilita Bowl at the Hilton in Southampton in 2025?

Express your interest, whether as a participant, sponsor, or attendee, by completing the waitlist form.

If we proceed, the event's theme will revolve around "Technology and Innovation - How it can help SMEs to grow and bridge the digital skills gap."

Calling on buyers, councils, and education institutions too! We welcome your participation to enhance procurement processes and supply chain connectivity.

Don't miss out on this opportunity for growth and innovation!

Follow our LinkedIn page for updates and secure your spot on the waitlist by clicking the link below to complete our quick form:

https://lnkd.in/e_5VsXJg

We have already secured our media sponsor, so if you want to be involved, then be quick as we always sell out in advance of making the event public online.

ICYMI in case you missed it.

This year (as for everyone!) Iā€™ve had a mixed bag of fortunes in terms of what has been happening both in my life and in business.

The one thing that I know about life (as I am longer in the tooth than most!); is that ā€˜this too shall passā€™.

What I also know in life is that things donā€™t come easy; unless youā€™re prepared to work at it and be consistent in your work ethic and also the way that you treat and respond to others (with kindness and support) is critical to success of any type and in any walk of life.

Here are some things that donā€™t come easily in life, that you have to work at (over time) to see any kind of results.

Relationships - theyā€™re often tough and when youā€™re younger youā€™re always seeking the formula for success (and finding your feet in your 20ā€™s especially) thatā€™s the time to live and take risks. You have zero responsibility and accountability to others for the most part. Enjoy this time!

Career - you donā€™t have it figured out in your 20ā€™s and sometimes not even in your thirties and beyond. The one thing thatā€™s certain for me as I age, is that I know less than I thought I did and have much more to learn from life and from others.

This year I was named a woman in tech to watch. As a raging introvert thatā€™s always focussed on the next result I find it tough to acknowledge success and this is due to the fact that for me Iā€™ve already won; as I get to live my dreams that truly align with my purpose each day.

For a long time I didnā€™t.

This was because I was often afraid of how I would be seen or judged by others and what people would say.

What Iā€™ve learned also with age, is for the most part nobody is watching and your harshest critic is often yourself. Dim that noise and move on.

For those people that donā€™t support or advocate you; leave them behind.

After 30 years in business development thereā€™s no more truthful statement than ā€˜thereā€™s no point pushing on a closed door!ā€™.

Not everyone will understand where you are going; what motivates you OR what youā€™re trying to achieve and as a woman in business this is doubly true!

Keep the faith; youā€™ll get there. Iā€™m living proof that you can archieve anything you want in life but your mindset and networks are critical to your success and they donā€™t teach that at school, so itā€™s a lifelong learning experience, this thing called life.

Thank you for your support and for being with me. People are the reason that I get up in morning and helping others is critical to life and success.

What are your tips and insights for a successful life?

Add in comments and canā€™t wait to hear your thoughts too!

ITā€™S WHO YOU KNOW! šŸ˜‚

As we are coming up to the Jubilee Weekend I wanted to share this photo that was taken at an early celebration last Friday in Portsmouth with University of Portsmouth at their garden party.

It was a great event organised by them and we had a epic time after visiting their CCIXR lab; with many business friends and colleagues and enjoyed strawberries and cream and creative and sporting activities as well.

Joe and I wish you a happy Bank Holiday and half term this week - hoping that the BBQ remains dry and the rain stays away for you and your families to celebrate with the rest of the U.K.

If youā€™re not a fan of royalty (I get it!) itā€™s still important to recognise the contribution of one of the most influential women that has lasted nearly 100 years in the making; thatā€™s no mean feat by anyones reckoning!

So; have a great time; eat the cream teas; relax and enjoy yourselves and it provides some welcome respite for a lot of people in the U.K. at the moment and something positive to bring us together.

Great to spend time with Dan Lodge Becky Miles Shermin Choban Debbie Newman Paula Grundy and many others at this event. I am blessed to know you and have you in my life; Peter Hooley Alice Hooley we missed you!

Let me know if youā€™re up to anything in the comments below.

Stay safe ā¤ļøšŸ˜

We are holding a healthy and vibrant debate about gender parity (or the lack of it!) in technology.

REACHED THE PINNACLE!

When I was a little girl, each week when my parents could afford to buy the Sunday papers they would buy The Times. They instilled in me the importance of learning and reading at an age when (quite frankly!) most kids arenā€™t interested in either šŸ˜ƒ

Flustered by the large broadsheet newspaper (I was around seven years old at the time!) I couldnā€™t understand why adults would sit around and read it cover to cover and also why there were so many supplements with it.

Since thenā€¦

Itā€™s long been a tradition in my house to buy The Times each week on Sunday, more for the routine of a snatched couple of hours of solitude and peace and quiet; thereā€™s nothing like curling up with the paper in front of a log burner! Itā€™s one of lifeā€™s little moments to treasure amongst the hustle and bustle of life.

This week; I have finally appeared in the publication I have spent more than forty years reading. I guess dreams really do come true if you work hard enough to achieve them.

Thanks to University of Portsmouth for allowing me the opportunity to work as a business coach and mentor on this programme with you and thanks for the mention Times Business

So if you listen to Magic radio; Jazz FM; Scala or Absolute you can hear me on the air this week promoting the programme!

NEVER would I have imagined just 7 years ago that I would be part of a national campaign like this and having had COVID quite badly last year itā€™s been a blessing to be able to get out and about once more and continue to help and mentor more people on their small business journey; at a time when we need each other more than ever!

If anyone wants more details on this programme we are running more sessions in January across the U.K. and online. Get in touch via; [email protected] for more information.

Get your entry in today!

Itā€™s important that we celebrate the best innovation that the local area and wider Solent region has to offer in business.

Part of this is recognising the diversity of ideas that we have in the area and I personally (and professionally) want to celebrate this as part of the upcoming NEW innovation awards in Portsmouth.

We are headline sponsoring the Community Innovation category and I would encourage you if you are reading this to enter. Or take a look at the categories that we have in place this year to celebrate the businesses and brands (like ours) that have reinvented the way that business will be done both now and in the future.

Take a look at the website below.

ICYMI (In case you missed it!)

Last week I was asked by BBC Radio Solent to take part in a phone in to inspire people to start their own business and ā€˜make a millionā€™.

When I started with just a laptop and mobile phone from my kitchen table in 2015, I could never have envisaged that I would be featured alongside former ā€˜Dragonā€™ and seasonsed entrepreneur Jenny Campbell, who also provides insight.

I spent the first year or so petrified of failing and worrying too much, about what other people thought of me and what I was trying to achieve.

I met a bunch of haters who wanted me to give up as well. This included (and still includes!) being trolled and sent abuse on social media feeds as well, which basically you have to learn to tune out and ignore.

So when you look at success and people that are successful, they are generally just better at failure and have come to terms with it and know what their strengths are.

Have a listen to the podcast here that we recorded; I hope that this will inspire women to start and continue in building businesses to inspire more to do so.

LISTEN IN!

I am on BBC Radio Solent this morning speaking to Lucy about how to become a millionaire.

This is a light hearted slot between 11am and midday discussing what it takes to start a business and have the mindset to reach the magic number that so many people long to attain.

I will be discussing the reality of starting a business and the likelihood that most people will ever reach the magic million figure in the U.K.

This promises to be a fun hour with lots of people contributing from across the region so I am really blessed to have been asked to take part in this, drawing on my experiences of helping over 4500 people start home based businesses over the past 6 years.

Welcome to Hampshire Meet The Buyer

Hampshire Meet The Buyer is back in 2020!

Now in its fourth year, the successful conference/expo that brings ROI to the small business community, is moving to a larger venue following on from the success of the last three events.

Having awarded Ā£0.5mn worth of contract value to local businesses in just three years, this event has killed the trade show format and created a new event that helps businesses shorten the sales process by HALF; saving companies time and money.
