There are so many beautiful and unique items at our vintage fairs. If you don’t want the same, boring, mass produced stuff from the high street or online, get down to one of our fairs and find something eye-catching and different that nobody else will have!

Introducing one of our regular traders, who will be back with us in Ramsbottom on Sunday 23rd March.

The super-talented Sarah can turn her hand to anything, from turbans and totes to cushions and lampshades, all using a variety of vintage and retro-inspired prints. And if you want to learn how to do it yourself, she’s even running some lampshade and tealight lantern making workshops at our fair in Urmston on Sat 26th April. Hello! There’s been a flurry of new followers recently, for which I am always so grateful, so I thought now would be a good time to reintroduce myself…

I’m Michelle, proud Mancunian, mum of two and founder of So Retro Events!

As with lots of female business owners, I started it to provide flexibility for family life. I used to work very long hours as a TV producer, often away for long periods of time filming, which doesn’t work when you have small children.

So Retro was born out of my passion for rummaging around vintage fairs, but not having any to go to nearer home. I feel I have now built a fabulous community of vintage traders and a regular customer base, who I love catching up with at fairs.

Aside from the business and being a mum, I love playing netball, going to gigs, am obsessed with Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors, (Claudia Winkleman is a goddess and I want to be her when I grow up!) and I also run a What’s On guide for my local area called So Prestwich

Thanks for following and I look forward to meeting you at one of the fairs this year! (I’m usually the crazy lady running round taking lots of photos and videos!) 😄

We’ve had so many announcements recently, I thought I’d put them in one handy post so you can see our upcoming events for the first part of the year with ease.

Traders, we are fully booked for Ramsbottom, over half the stalls for the Vintage Vibes Weekend have now been taken following our post yesterday, and we have just 3 stalls left for Urmston in April.

We’re joining forces with the incredible East Lancashire Railway for the largest music event they’ve ever had!

Vintage Vibes Weekend is taking place Sat 24th-Sun 25th May at Bury Station. The car park is being transformed into a music arena where the main stage will host live bands and artists from across the decades, including The Real Thing The Northern Soultrain The Jersey Rollers, an Abba tribute and more to be announced. There will be an outdoor bar and food stalls, with other smaller stages and music performances dotted around the railway.

We will be putting on one of our renowned vintage fairs featuring some of our fabulous traders, selling amazing retro clothing, homeware, vinyl records and more!

We’re thrilled to announce some amazing craft workshops will be taking place at our upcoming fair in Urmston on Saturday 26th April. This is a fantastic opportunity to get creative and learn new skills, all under the watchful eye of the talented Sarah from The Gingham Flamingo!

𝙍𝙚𝙩𝙧𝙤 𝙇𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 - Learn how to craft your very own retro lampshade, perfect for adding a unique touch to any room! Choose from a selection of retro print fabrics to make a cool lampshade for your home, or a unique gift for someone. All materials are provided and the lampshade can be used as a ceiling pendant or table lamp.
