Thank you SO much to all those who came along tonight to support the future of Mells Daffodil Festival. The good news is that the show will go on! Because of Covid and the lack of time to get things going between now and Easter Monday it doesn't look like there will be a Daffodil Day in 2022 but we are now working towards putting on an incredible comeback for Easter 2023. Watch this space!

Hi all - we will be holding a meeting at the Talbot in Mells at 6.30pm this Wednesday 8th December. Please come along if you would like to see the event continue and would like to volunteer in the future

Sadly it looks as if Mells Daffodil Festival won’t be happening next year. Almost everyone on the original committee has resigned or left the village since we were last able to put on the event in 2019 and we haven’t been unable to find enough volunteers willing to give up their time to put on the festival in 2022.

It has always been run by volunteers from Mells and as the event has grown so big over the last few years, it takes months to organise. We need around ten people on the committee - and as things stand we only have one!

After two years of Mells Daffodil Festival being cancelled by Covid, there’s huge hope for it to come back in 2022. I have been involved with the festival for seven years, six of which I’ve been Chair. It’s been an amazing project to be involved with and the committee has managed to raise thousands of pounds for the village, as well as put on some incredible events.

But the time has come to get some fresh eyes on the festival, some new blood on the committee. I have decided to resign as Chair and many of my fellow colleagues are doing the same.

The good news is we still have some money in the bank to be able to get the ball rolling again for next year should a new group of local people want to take it on. The current committee would be very happy to hand over all our knowledge to anyone who wants to get involved.

We will be holding a meeting in the Talbot Inn at 7pm on Wednesday 10th November, so if you want to get involved, please come and join us. The next festival is due to be held on Easter Monday, 18th April, so there’s plenty of time to get organised and with Easter being a bit later this year, hopefully the weather will be good! Hope to see any interested parties on 10th November.

Our Story

Mells Daffodil Festival takes place in the village of Mells but we will be taking a break in 2020 - the next festival will be in 2021

The first festival was held in Easter 1979

The usual exciting programme of events sees the whole village transformed to make it a fun and exciting day out for all the family. It's all in aid of community groups in our village.
