We just love our Shepherd Neame Whitstable Bay sunglasses!
We are so delighted that Team Bad Boys have joined us again for Ramsgate Week in their Corby 26 competing in IRC class.
Sadly we lost one of the ‘Bad Boys’ last year when Mark lost his long fight with cancer.
Right to the end he remained positive and cheerful.
We asked his brother Peter if he was ok with us posting this video from happier times in 2020, and this is what he said…..
‘It was Marks idea to get Anthony out on the water. He chose, BADBOYS as our name and he was central to the whole project. It is only right that he is remembered for his 'can do' spirit.
We are all ready to go!!.’
Did you see our yachts on Sky’s coverage of the Golf Open?
A very warm Welcome to John and Michelle Stoneley and their yacht Pippy, a Sun Odyssey 37.
I asked them what they had been up to since the last regatta and this is what they said....
When we came out of lockdown last summer Pippy took part in the RTYC two handed race series, father and daughter pair, John and Georgina finished the series in a creditable third place. Pippy then took a relaxing cruise to Eastbourne during the August heatwave, it was lovely to have the opportunity to enjoy the comforts of a cruising boat. The autumn saw the rest of the crew back on board again and Pippy won the autumn series for cruiser class.
This year Pippy has been out racing in the RTYC spring series, and managed an evening race thanks to working from home! We are about to cruise back down to Eastbourne to spend some time with family.
We are looking forward Ramsgate Week and the great sailing that will be had by all.
Great to have you back with us!
One of our cruiser class competitors out racing this morning.
An expensive days sailing for someone!
A wise Man once said that owning a yacht is like standing in a shower ripping up £50 notes!
A warm Euromarine Insurance Ramsgate Week welcome back to Royal Temple Yacht Club member Bad Boys, a Corby 26 which competes in IRC class.
Owned by Anthony Dale, it’s a family affair with his Uncle Mark and Father Peter onboard.
The video below shows how the family have adapted the yacht to be able to get Anthony and his wheelchair onboard.
The Mayor of Ramsgate Raushan Ara fired the cannon this morning at 11am for the official start of Euromarine Insurance Ramsgate Week.
Aided by the Royal Temple Yacht Club’s gunner Dave Peters as the countdown was read out by Fiona Rawbone, part of the Race Hut Team lead by Peter Holland who is chief Race Officer for cruiser classes on loan from Broadstairs Sailing Club.
Chairman Karen Cox had previously hosted a breakfast for the Mayor at the Galley cafe underneath the yacht club. She said. “It’s important that we involve the local community in our annual regatta which has been going on for over 100 years. This year we are grateful to Broadstairs based Euromarine Insurance Services who are our headline sponsor. Without support from them and other local companies like Miles & Barr, Page & Sons, and Whitstable Bay we would be unable to run this event. We are grateful to the Mayor Raushan and her husband for taking time out of their busy schedule to show support for the event.”
A warm welcome back to the crew of BadBoys, a Corby 26 racing for RTYC.
Despite being confined to a wheelchair Anthony just loves the freedom that sailing gives him, and they are competing in IRC class once again. The video below shows the clever way they have of manoeuvring Anthony onboard.
