Rebranded: Iota - a not-for-profit social enterprise for the local community. Supporting anything indie, community-organised and local. A bit vague for now but hopefully the strategy will get clearer as time goes on :)

This is not an official event! We are organizing this celebration for our dear friend and supporter Sarah to help reconnect with her spiritual roots, for any Pagans and Wiccans in Reading and also as a mini fundraiser for The Rising Sun Arts Centre ☀️❄️

WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION
Saturday 21st December at The Rising Sun Arts Centre

3pm - doors open
4pm - guided self reflection, meditation, journalling
4:30pm - painting pinecones to create hanging winter solstice ornaments
5:30pm - order food for our feast
Evening - board games, karaoke and friendly fun
9pm - end

Completely *free entry* and the bar will be serving mead!
Any donations will go towards Rising Sun Arts Centre, a gorgeous community hub and venue that deserves all the love and support 💕

We are providing all supplies for the crafting session and also some colouring sheets and pencils. We will have candles and would like to burn incense but we will check everyone is ok with this first.

All ages are welcome but children must be accompanied by parents or guardians. The venue has a capacity of 50 people and our celebrations will end around 9pm! This gathering will be a q***r safe space.

✨EVENT PLANNING ADVICE
We have over 3 years of planning events in Reading and have learnt a lot of lessons and skills along the way. Ideally we wouldn't waste all this useful knowledge! From how to get started, how to organize yourself in preparation and the day of the event itself.

£15/hour from 4pm on weekdays - this rate is completely negotiable and would absolutely offer this for free for low income/no wage and charities.

✨ DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
Informed by lived experience and knowledge of EDI practices within organisations. Hopefully within the next few months I will gain a qualification in this, however, I have many useful perspectives and advice for making yourself or your organisation more inclusive, and authentic strategies for promoting diversity.

£15/hour for a 1:1 consultation or £150 for a 2 hour group session. Prices negotiable for PoC business owners and charities.

✨ DRAG PERFORMERS
Over the next couple weeks we will be highlighting the best drag performers that we have worked with and including professional reviews. You can reach out to them directly or we are also happy to make an introduction. (No charge)

✨ FRIENDSHIP
Soon we will post our personal recommendations for q***r safe spaces in Reading. Iota Events begun with the aim of connecting q***r people locally and fostering friendships to combat social isolation. If you are a local q***r person looking for fun and friends, look no further - just send us a message and we will sort you out! (Goes without saying, no charge)

Iota Events will no longer be producing and hosting drag shows.

We will still offer limited services whilst Big Jay prepares to launch their new venture to be announced shortly. We are also going to post our recommendations for local q***r safe venues and the best drag performers that we've worked with.

Almost 3 years in the biz - many thanks to everyone who supported us and helped us provide q***r safe spaces in Reading. We hope you enjoyed the journey with us and we really hope it brought you happiness.

Keep supporting small and local businesses because they are truly the heart and soul of this town, without them it would be less of a home. Don't let the bastards get you down or oppress your voice.

Judges for this competition are Lentil Pulse and Amber Rose Turner, hosted by Big Jay

Our last ever drag show, and your last chance to experience the Iota magic before we walk off into the sunset 🌄

Non-profit event i.e. all ticket sales go to cover the costs of the event (venue hire £30, competition cash prize £100, any left over goes to pay judges and performer travel)

Throwback to the first Rainbow Barn Dance!
This year we are fundraising for on Saturday 29th October at

Event schedule:
5:30pm - attending solo? Join us for the pre-event social, say howdy, order some dinner and meet some friendly new cowfolk 🍽️🍻

7pm - the dance begins, yeehaw! We'll get your spurs a-clickin' with some rootin tootin tunes and q***r faves 🪩

8pm - barn callers and will kick off the group dances and will be leading you through some classics, such as Time Warp, Macarena, Cha Cha Slide and of course Cotton Eye Joe 🤠

11pm - event ends, see you next year 💕
