The project aims to capture the university’s history through the personal experiences of students, staff, alumni, and our wider community. We have partnered with What's On Reading to advertise your events taking place in the Great Hall on the popular Arts & Culture website for Reading.

The What’s on Reading website is part of Visit Reading and has had 2 million site visits from over 400,000 users with around 2,500 different events, activities and workshops listed on the site between October 2024 and March 2025.

A beautiful Grade 2 listed building which was opened in 1905, the Great Hall has a fixed stage with a magnificent organ and grand piano, ample space for a choir and orchestra, and can seat audiences of 350 to 500. Multiple dressing rooms are available backstage. At the University of Reading, we don’t just talk sustainability - we deliver it!

In our latest Environmental Sustainability Report alone, we showed:
✅ We've cut operational waste per person by 31% since 2015/16
✅ Diverted 99% of waste from landfill
✅ Increased reuse, repair, and remanufacture by 160% over 2018/19
✅ Trialled polystyrene recycling to tackle tricky waste streams

These achievements are powered by collaboration with local partners and our campus-wide commitment to reduce, repair, re-manufacture, re-use, recycle and recover items and materials. Sending materials to landfill is the last resort.

We’re delighted to welcome Team Activity Group to our campus today. The Meadow lends its self for Team Building activities with views down to the Whiteknights Lake. This area paired with the Meadow Suite and decking, work well for a conference followed by an outside activity.

Yesterday we had a menu tasting of some exciting changes to our menus 🥘
We tried dishes from our working lunches, hot & cold fork buffets, pizzas as well as yummy canapés 🥙 From September, you’ll be able to choose different options from our Venue Reading Hospitality menus. We can’t wait to share the options with you 🥰
