At the start of this pandemic when the bars, clubs & restaurants etc closed & some people were sat at home on furlough, we were expected to just get on with it.

There wasn’t overwhelming support for us, there was little support from the government & we even got told we need to retrain.

What we learnt from this, it didn’t affect joe public, it wasn’t a ‘big deal’. As we are now close to hitting December, with some shops & businesses closing, a tier system that is about as clear as mud, and the potential losses of ‘joe publics’ job we have uproar.

What “if” someone told you to retrain? Would you be upset?

Well, this is exactly how people have been feeling in the hospitality sector since the start. We have bills to pay like YOU.. we have financial obligations like rent, mortgages, loans, credit cards, car payments, nursery and school fees plus a lot more which isn’t covered by the government’s “Universal Credit” system or some self employed people.

Sympathy? No.. what I hope you get from this post is we don’t always know or understand the full affects of the situation other people may be going through & it’s only by knowing the full facts that you might realise.

It’s like seeing your next door neighbours house on fire & not calling 999 because it isn’t your business until the flames start to burn your roof & eventually you are both people with houses on fire.
