WHY IS SOUND QUALITY IMPORTANT? 🔊
When launching Event1 our main focus was on quality productions. A huge part of this is through sound 🔈. Often at events and parties DJs push their PA systems very hard resulting in distortion unknowingly being part of the output. Mostly white noise and crunching across the frequency spectrum. This is what leaves you with a headache or feeling fatigued.

After being involved in sound for over 20 years we have learned a few important points which are often overlooked.

1. The right speakers for the right venue and capacity. If we are playing to a 150+ crowd we pack the necessary amount of subs and top speaker to provide coverage with ease. You have to factor in ambient noise (people talking) and the dispersion of sound through people and the venue.

2. Loud doesn’t mean better. From speaking with sound engineers at Ministry of sound and E1 we are in agreement that’s Headroom is one of the most important factors when it comes to your system. Meaning you never run your system too hard where you may start to introduce distortion. We allow around 40% headroom meaning the sound produced is never compromised. The result is a super clean sound where you can almost have a conversation on the dance floor at loud volumes due to the low levels of artefacts in the mix. The downside is you have to provide effective amplification to achieve this which isn’t cheap, but the quality difference is immediately evident.

3. Using a speaker management system insures you can match your speakers optimal crossover point achieving the best sound from the manufacturers recommendations. You can also dial in elements like sub harmonics to tighten or define bass response. Other helpful features are speaker delay if you have multi staged stacks and limiter settings.

In summary research the venue and crowd capacity, bring the correct speakers and ensure there is plenty of headroom. We often have great feedback on our passion for sounds quality and it’s a proud element we will continue to push.
