We caught up with Nicola Reader, who shared her excitement about qualifying with Double Denim for the BSHA Rising Star Heavyweight Cob this Friday at the London International Horse Show! 🎉

Nicola told us, “To be honest, we’re just going to enjoy the experience—no expectations—just hoping for a good ride (and, of course, a lovely photo!).” 📸

🌟 Excitement is Building for LIHS for Jane and Jacob! 🌟

We are thrilled to share Jane’s incredible journey as she prepares to compete at the London International Horse Show! 🐴

Jane’s partner in the ring, Larrigan (affectionately known as Jacob), has an amazing story. Originally a green five-year-old hunting with the Devon & Somerset Staghounds, Jacob came into Jane’s life after a chance conversation. He quickly became her second-string hunter for two seasons.

Following a tumble that left Jane out of action for several months, she decided Jacob needed some additional education. Jane chose to reschool him herself—and what a decision that turned out to be! From playing in circles and enjoying Riding Club activities to stepping into the show ring, Jacob’s transformation has been remarkable. Despite a 40-year hiatus from showing, Jane has been delighted with his success in the Rising Star classes during their very first season.

One of Jane’s goals was to compete at the Herts County Show, where the pair performed brilliantly. Now, the journey has led them to LIHS, where they’ll compete in both the Riding Horse and Racehorse to Show Horse categories. While Jane humbly says she’s “not expecting rosettes,” she’s overjoyed just to be there.

Completely home-produced and supported by her family, her daughter will be grooming on the big day—this journey is all the more special.

If you’re attending LIHS, be sure to cheer them on! Jane and Jacob will be competing as number 449 in classes 35 and 43.

We wish them the very best of luck and know they’ll make us all proud. ⭐🍀

⭐️Dreams Do Come True: Michelle Prentice and Amilas Slumberdown Qualify for LIHS⭐️

This year’s journey to the London International Horse Show (LIHS) has been nothing short of extraordinary for Michelle Prentice and beloved pony, Amilas Slumberdown, affectionately known as Star.

Star, a true family pony, has spent much of this year as a first ridden pony for the niece of his owner, Jo Stewart. Yet, he has proven to be so much more than just a steady partner for young riders. For Michelle, he became a beacon of hope in a dark time. After the heartbreaking loss of her yearling in May, Michelle considered stepping away from horses entirely. But the prospect of showing Star at the Hertfordshire County Show reignited her passion and gave her the strength to keep going.

The pair’s success began when they won the SSADL Members Challenge at the Hertfordshire County Show, earning a spot in the second round of the SSADL LIHS finals. What came next was beyond Michelle’s wildest dreams: winning the largest and most competitive open class at the SSADL Championships and securing the coveted golden ticket to LIHS.

“When our number was called, I couldn’t believe it—I cried so much,” Michelle shared. “It’s been a dream come true to know we’ll be walking under those famous curtains at LIHS.”

Star has truly earned his name, proving himself to be a little superstar and a source of inspiration for all who know him. Michelle’s story is a beautiful reminder of the power of horses and the joy they bring, even in life’s toughest moments.

Congratulations to Michelle, Jo, and, of course, Star! We can’t wait to cheer you on at LIHS.

We had a fantastic day at the Bucks County Show 🎉 Emma’s Champion British Blue was a showstopper, and her sheep were hugely successful, with the help from Janet. Congratulations to Sarah for securing a HOYS qualifier in the Lightweight Hunter class! 🏆 Pratik and Annabel enjoyed stewarding the horse rings and judging the trade.

All in all, a brilliant day! 🐑🐎
