POV: Your family own a Halloween Haunt and this is your camera roll…

This year we’re celebrating 12 years of Scream Factory! The brainchild of Stephen Tate - a Teesside based entrepreneur who owns a fire and flood restoration business and needed to keep his employees busy when the work went through a dry spell… 🥁

Scream Factory was one of the only haunts in the UK at the time, and it started as a walk in the woods but a year later found it’s permenant home in the abandoned grounds of a haunted museum. The event now permentantly employs set designers, joiners and office staff year round. Not to mention an annual cast of over 150 actors and countless site crew.

Scream Factory is still family run… you’ll find Tate’s popping up all over the place (sometimes you might not recognise them 🤡) but most importantly Stephen is still crafting away in his workshop coming up with all sorts of strange and shocking creations.

What makes us different? As well as horror, you’ll find humour… we don’t just guarentee you the scariest night of your life, it’ll be the funniest night too! You’ll scream, laugh and cry and some will pretend to be hard but we’ll know we got you!

Hello all! As you may or may know we run a Children’s event alongside the Extreme tour here at Scream Factory, every year.

We are looking to expand our tour for 2024 and so are looking for additional cast members, who are good at working with children, improvisation, and following a script - to play all of the unique characters within our Twilight Tour this year.

Our Story

Scream Factory is produced by Imaginative Productions, a small family run events company that was set up as a means to diversify our fire and flood restoration business. ‘Fire and floods have very little to do with Halloween Haunts,’ you might think to yourself... but we utilise the skills of our experienced joiners, electricians, plumbers and decorators etc to help create buildings and sets that you would only expect to find on a Hollywood movie set.

Scream Factory has grown from a tour in the woods to a permanent site in the grounds of an old nursery behind Kirkleatham Museum and is now the North East’s largest and scariest multi-award winning Halloween Haunt. Last October, our cast and crew grew to over 100 and we scared over 22,000 visitors.

Each year we build on what we have, to try and bring you the best and funniest frights of your lives! New for 2018 we introduced a brand new Valentine’s event which opened for a two day limited scare special. Thousands attended over the weekend for a very different romantic Scream Factory.

In May, we added another award to our bag at ScareCon’s European Scare Awards, “Best Out of Season Scare Event” and ramped up the energy for the October site build.
