We want to inform you that 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐔𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 are planning replacement works on Chapel Street and West End, starting in October 2024.

🔧 Who is Wales & West Utilities?
At Wales & West Utilities, our 1,300+ dedicated colleagues work tirelessly to keep 7.5 million customers safe and warm. We don't sell gas but use our extensive network of pipes to transport it to homes and businesses across Wales and the South West of England. We respond to gas emergencies and invest £2m weekly to ensure a reliable gas supply. 🌍

🔧 What's the Work We're Doing?
We're investing £265k to upgrade 1,326 meters of metal pipes to new plastic ones on Chapel Street and West End.

🔧 Why Now?
A gas pipe in the area has been flagged as high risk by Ofgem. Replacing it will help us move towards net-zero carbon emissions and prepare the local network for future green gases. 🌱

🔧 How Will Residents Be Impacted?
We strive to minimize disruption. If you need support during the gas supply interruption—such as alternative cooking and heating facilities or specific access requirements—please contact us ASAP. Expect road closures or temporary traffic lights, with safe access for residents maintained. 🚦

🎶 𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐎𝐂𝐇 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄 🎶

After 30 incredible years, we've revamped the Murdoch Day tune to capture the vibrant spirit of Redruth today. Be sure to join us for the parade on Saturday, 15th June at 11 am to experience the debut of the new tune which has been created by a group of talented local artists from the Horners band, Redruth Festival Band and Lowender.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲
Starting at 11 am, the parade will leave Lemins Court, head up Lower Fore Street past the Miner Statue, continue up Higher Fore Street, pass through Flowerpot Chapel car park, and then head back down Fore Street, ending back in Lemins Court.

We wish you all our customers a very happy Christmas and a happy and healthy 2024.

We will be closing on the 23rd December 2023 at 3pm for our annual christmas holiday .return at 11 am on the 2nd January 2024.

We will be opening late and closing early on some days the first 2 weeks of January due to staff holidays and deliveries .

So a figure we all know and love in Redruth the crazy Matty (Ringrose fabric) is trying to set up what we think would be an amazing addition to the town. A regular car boot in the car park behind the butter market.

There are obviously costs involved with this kind of venture and she has set up a go fund me to try and get support from locals who would like to see something like this brought to our ever improving town.

If anyone is in the position to do so, and would like to see a car boot in the town, please do drop her a donation towards something that we feel will be a great addition!

Whilst the future of the Wilko's shop seems secure with Poundland taking it over, we know the future of the High Street is still uncertain so come along to our Drop In day next Wednesday at Redruth Library & Information Service in Alma Place to share your thoughts and ideas.

There are some things outside of our powers such as car parking charges and business rates but we'd like to get your views on things like whether we should spend some of your council tax precept on taking over one of the empty shops and if so, what it should become. We can also give updates on the Post Office and Banking Hub.

All are welcome and we hope you can come along.

Please be aware Fore Street, Green Lane and Alma Place will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday 9th September between 7am - 5pm for the The International Mining and Pasty Festival - Redruth

While the Order is in operation traffic, including bicycle movement, along the highway specified in paragraph 1, will be temporarily prohibited. No personnel, except upon the direction of a police constable in uniform, cause or permit any vehicle or pedal cycle to enter on, proceed or wait in the length of road described above.
