(2)

We are Ian and Christine Gunning who have spent all of our professional lives helping and supporting others through our work in public service. Throughout our family life of over thirty years of marriage, three children and in turn their children, we have had and continue to have plenty to celebrate. We have also been along side our parents in the glorious autumns and gentle winters of their lives

. We offer you the opportunity to have a unique and personal ceremony to celebrate life's journeys from birth to death, helping you to create a memorable service that meets your needs and requirements. Ian has been awarded an MBE for services to the community in 2003.

Today is a day to remember the sacrifices made over many many years by our armed services who gave their lives to make our world a safer place and also to perhaps reflect upon how dear and precious our loved ones are.

We would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a brighter and more positive 2021 when we can put all our troubles behind us and hopefully begin a new chapter of our lives.
A phrase we use for Milestone Celebrants is
" As the journey of life went rushing by, we found some time to laugh, love and cry".
We hope that 2021 brings a lot more love and happiness to your lives.

Delivered a celebration of life service this morning for a lifelong fan of Wrexham FC and Wales National Team.
The Funeral Cortage passed by The Racecourse Ground where fellow fans and the Wrexham Team players formed outside to pay their respects what a fabulous gesture by the club.
Last week I delivered another service for a lifelong member and former Club Captain and President of Holywell Gold Club again members of the club and Past Captains from across the region came out to pay their respects and formed a guard of honour applauding as the Funeral Cortage passed
It is an honour and a privilege to be able to deliver services that Celebrate the lives of such special people and in current times I am always humbled by the response when so many people provide such touching tributes
I have also witnessed hundreds of people inTowns and Villages come out onto the streets to applaud a loved and respected member of their community never let it be said that our communities are not what they used to be they most certainly are and should be given every inch of respect they so richly deserve, well done one and all.

Morning everyone were coming to the end of our Welsh lockdown and will be entering into a fresh set of rules many of which will continue to confuse and frustrate everyone.
I very much hope that common sense will prevail and people heed the advice being given.
Ive lost count of the amount of times i have seen people, mainly men in their 30s walking around shops with no masks and can only throw doubt on their intelligence and ability to grasp any type of reality.
I found myself questioning the staff of one shop as to why they are allowing it but understand their predicament.
On one occasion my frustration took over and the old Bobby came out with me shouting "Its a bloody good job i havnt got my warrant card" (good job Mrs G or my kids were not with me otherwise id of been dragged back home with a flea in my ear) .
We hear a lot of talk about whether or not we in Wales went into lockdown too early or came out too early in order to save Christmas but my view on this is simple, if people just abided by the rules and guidance we would be in a far better place, this virus is going nowhere a sad point that we all have to accept and somehow learn to live with.
There are many of my friends on this site who have underlying health issues, and yes me as well, mine are however mild compared to others.
Thankfully Mrs G and I are blessed with the children we have and they couldnt be more switched on to the current dangers and i know that all of your children will be the same because thats the way they have been brought up.
For instance our middle daughter Kate is the ambulance service and like many of her colleagues is becoming more and more frustrated by the ignorance of many people in their attitude towards this pandemic.
Although in my current occupation i havnt began to see the sad final effects of the virus as yet i do suspect that will change in the weeks and months ahead.
This isnt a rant ladies and gents it is a statement of fact if we are to see our loved ones together this Christmas everyone needs to pull together governments are trying their best but they cant cover every angle the onus is on us and everyone else to play their part, we need to work together in order to work through this.
Stay safe out there and please spread this message to everyone you know as like many others we really want to see our children and grandchildren this Christmas.

Thought i would share the following Max Boyce poem with you all
‘When Just The Tide Went Out'
Last night as I lay sleeping, when dreams came fast to me
I dreamt I saw JERUSALEM beside a tideless sea
And one dream I’ll remember as the stars began to fall
Was Banksy painting Alun Wyn on my neighbour’s garage wall
And dreams like that sustain me ’til these darkest times have passed
And chase away the shadows no caring night should cast
But times like this can shine a light as hardship often can
To see the best in people and the good there is in man
And I remember Swansea with nobody about
The shops were closed like Sunday and just the tide went out
And I remember Mumbles with the harbour in its keep
And the fishing boats at anchor that trawl the waters deep
And I heard the seabirds calling as the gulls all wheeled about
But all the town was sleeping now and just the tide went out
And when these days are over and memories remain
When children painted Rainbows and the sun shone through the rain
And the doctors and the nurses who stretchered all the pain
And I hope the carers never see a time like this again
And I prayed last week for Boris, who knocked on Heavens door
And I thought of voting Tory, which I’ve never done before
And though the sun is shining I’ve no immediate plans
So I’ll write a book on ‘Staying In’ and ‘Ways To Wash Your Hands’
And now more days of lockdown, 3 weeks of staying in
I’m running out of vodka and I’ve started on the gin
And my neighbours are complaining, I’ve heard them scream and shout
With the sound the bins are making when I take the empties out
And when all this is over, and our fragile world survives
And I hope that God is caring now for the ones who gave their lives
And I pray we’ll find an answer, for my faith is cast in doubt
And God draws back the heavens and all the stars come out
And I’ll remember mornings with nobody about
When the shops were closed like Sunday, and just the tide went out.

Good morning everyone.
We are certainly living in extraordinary times and many people are finding this lockdown hard.
If you are struggling at home never be afraid to ask for help and once again if you know someone who is self isolating give them a ring just to say hello, one call can make a real difference.

At a time when many of us are at home and some perhaps worrying about what the future holds there have been some splendid social media posts and messages from many of my facebook friends and from many others who have taken the time to communicate in such a caring and compassionate way. Thinking of others as well as themselves is a welcoming and dare i say positive outcome of all that is happening around us and hopefully will continue long after we get to the end of this Worldwide Pandemic.
My reason for posting this message is that i recently received a message from a friend Phil Roberts which i am grateful for as it made me think about those people who feel isolated and alone and perhaps a little depressed, to be honest who would blame them with all the media coverage of the virus newspapers social media television and radio its completely taken over our lives and everything we do on a daily basis has changed dramatically.
But to some people feeling alone is an emotion that they grapple with constantly whether that be dealing with personal problems alone or going through stress and other mental health issues.
Let us all think of them today.
If there is anyone you know who may be struggling through this "Talk to them reassure them, and support them, no matter what age no matter what job they are doing especially our emergency services who are under tremendous pressure, and those who are at home alone living with their own thoughts, talk to them let them know they are not alone.
Not everyone uses social media, pick up a phone and talk to them.
Now like many others ill share one of my favourite photo's that makes me smile and feel great everytime i see it with my best mate Ron Nealey currently self isolating with COPD who i call and speak to most days.
Perhaps you can do the same with someone you know?

04/04/2020

Good morning everyone just a short note to say that I will not be able to deliver services for the next week or so having had a recurrance of Asthma but will be back up and running as soon as possible.
Stay safe out there.

Given our current difficulties and in order to bring a smile to the faces of those who remember the old days have a read of the following Back in the Days of Tanners and Bobs
Try and keep yourselves safe listen to the advice being given and when possible stay at home.
Back in the days of tanners and bobs,
When Mothers had patience and Fathers had jobs.
When football team families wore hand me down shoes,
And T.V gave only two channels to choose.

Back in the days of three penny bits,
When schools employed nurses to search for your nits.
When snowballs were harmless; ice slides were permitted
And all of your jumpers were warm and hand knitted.

Back in the days of hot ginger beers,
When children remained so for more than six years.
When children respected what older folks said,
And pot was a thing you kept under your bed.

Back in the days of Listen with Mother,
When neighbours were friendly and talked to each other.
When cars were so rare you could play in the street.
When Doctors made house calls and Police walked the beat.

Back in the days of Milligan's Goons,
When butter was butter and songs all had tunes.
It was dumplings for dinner and trifle for tea,
And your annual break was a day by the sea.

Back in the days of Dixon's Dock Green,
Crackerjack pens and Lyons ice cream.
When children could freely wear National Health glasses,
And teachers all stood at the FRONT of their classes

Back in the days of Nans sugar butties
When TV had Bill and Ben, Sweep and Sooty
Bike rides, picnics and a countryside walk
Where we would sit by the river and talk

Back in the days of rocking and reeling,
When mobiles were things that you hung from the ceiling.
When woodwork and pottery was taught in our schools,
And everyone dreamed of winning the pools.

Back in the days when in winters we shivered,
And our comics were always delivered .
Hopscotch and roller skates; snowballs to lob.
Back in the days of tanners and bobs.

Mrs G and I were proud and privileged to have officiated at the wedding ceremony of Jenna and Chris Whitehead today in glorious sunshine and amidst the magical surroundings of Gwyrch Cottage in Abergele
This was the best ever example of how a loving couple can arrange the wedding of their dreams everything was idyllically organised and the attention to detail was outstanding. Well done Jenna and Chris and many congratulations. Just a photo of the candle ceremony we will let see the rest later.

Privileged to have led the Celebration of life service for a young man in Wrexham recently described by friends and family as a “Beautiful man inside and out”, Crematorium was packed with friends and family and his best friend wrote a song and recorded it for the service a song that really touched me as it was clearly from the heart, a young man with a true talent and who gave his best mate and his family something really special.
His family and friends gave their very best for a free spirited and special young man.

Whenever our time has come to leave this shore none of us would wish our departure to be a sad and emotional experience for our loved ones we would want them and our friends to look back on our lives and celebrate the happy times we all shared together.
In all of my Celebration of Life Ceremonies I try to deliver a service that is inspiring and uplifting highlighting loved ones achievements and celebrating their successes whilst sharing many happy and often humorous family memories.
Some of the comment’s I receive from the families of loved ones is that I made a very difficult day easier to cope with and that it was as if I knew their loved one personally. This comes about by researching their lives and focussing upon how well they lived them throughout the service.
Funeral ceremonies are changing and Funeral Directors now offer wide ranging services to bereaved families.
It is true that traditional Funeral Services are mainly held in Church or Crematoriums, families however can if they wish have their loved ones service at a favourite family location such as a sports or social club followed by a private Family cremation afterwards returning to the club after the service to be reunited with friends.
Or indeed have a small family service at a Crematorium followed by a Celebration of life memorial service afterwards at the venue of their choice.
I now also offer to provide anyone who wishes with a pre planned and written service that can be kept with your last Will and Testament this will include the type of service you want where you want it to take place including choices of Hymns or music and poetry and family readings I will visit you to obtain the relevant information and then prepare a service for you that you can keep for your loved ones to access. Just like a Will this can be changed whenever you wish.
Contact me on 07725136928 or Email me on [email protected] for any further information about our services.
Finally a verse from a poem I often use:-

Remember not my final days
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death
But Celebrate my life.

Isn’t this what we would all wish for.

Recent events and the role I lead in present day life has made me realise that we should never let anything stand in the way of hopes and ambitions even when later in life if there’s something you want to do or places you want to go, make an effort and go for it life is sadly too short for it not to be filled with happy memorable moments and Milestone events.
