That's A Wrap!

All the designs from my final NAFAS demonstration from Tuesday evening for Launceston Flower Club.
It was an interesting challenge to make everything fit in my car alongside husband, daughter, and dog! A huge thank you to Alison for providing me with stunning flowers.

Autumn colours, textures, and handmade structures are all foam free.

Thank you to all the clubs who have invited me to demonstrate both in my local north east area and nationally over the last 10 years. I have enjoyed so many conversations with other demonstrators and club members across the country.

I am returning to my roots, keeping it local working as a freelance florist. I started my floristry career in 1984!! Straight from school helping a local florist with weddings and getting up at 4.00 am to go to the flower market 🥱 ( how lucky are florists today having their flowers delivered in the early hours) studying floristry at the Isle of Ely college in Wisbech and taking the Society of Floristry and American Institute of Floral Design exams. A few competitions and some teaching thrown in have made it an interesting career.

"Floral Anthology" my demonstration this week was a joy to share because I had the most beautiful seasonal flowers to use. Some were harvested from my garden, which is crammed with perennials at the moment, funny how I always find room for one more plant...I know I am not alone when it comes to plant passion, as I admitted this to the audience there were several murmers of agreement 🪴

I had to share the stage with an interesting array of stage props including a chaise longue and a piano as they had scheduled the demonstration in the middle of rehearsals for a play! 🎭Several of the props can be seen in the background, it looks like I'm demonstrating in a Victorian drawing room!

Each piece was designed around the flowers, such as "Toxic" all about beautiful but deadly flowers ☠️ inspired by the poison garden at Alnwick Gardens and "Wild" which is about appreciating the abundance of wild flowers which are everywhere at the moment and so important for the ecosystem and biodiversity of the dales meadows 🌿 and "Folkloric" which delves into mythology and why some flowers have quirky common names my favourite is Nigella damascena known as love in the mist or the Yorkshire version is snog in the fog ☁️ 😆 all about unrequited love and lost love 💙

Hello! I haven't posted on here for ages! So sharing a few pics from my foam free workshop this week at Loftus flower club, a great bunch of creative ladies and so lovely to see Emma a floristry student from years ago! 🌸✨️

I also wanted to say that this is my last year of demonstrating and teaching floral art workshops as I have decided to keep local and work freelance so no more travelling around the country next year for me. I have a handful of demonstrations and workshops scattered across the year ending in Cornwall in October. I started my Nafas journey in 2014 (can't believe it is 10 years!)🌷

Happy Christmas everyone!

It's the end of a very busy month making wreaths, table centres and festive bouquets at the very lovely and

I am really looking forward to some days off catching up on some TV, a beach walk, some sitting around doing nothing, letting my hands recover (not a pretty sight - they never look clean at this time of year!) Having a gin or two or even a cuppa that doesn't get cold or pine needles in it, having a lie in (yes miss .en_pointe no 6.00am starts for college for a while 🙂)
Did you notice I have missed out housework!

Merry Christmas!
