This is Baldy…..

Baldy is feeling satisfied…..

After discovering how quiet it kept him, Emma put Baldy in charge of changing the very homemade door sign from closed to open each day and back again at 5pm. Baldy was at first assuming that he would be required to put up ribbons to be cut with an oversized pair of (safety) scissors following a formal ceremony each day which, whilst it sounded fun, felt like a bit of a faff. His astonishment at the ease in which he can welcome his customers each day is therefore palpable and he spends many minutes each morning and evening turning the sign back and forth until his appetite is sated.

Baldy is an idiot. Emma is happy for a few moments peace.

The Spanish Place squats in the front of Idelica’s office at Unit D1 platinum Jubilee Business Park, Hopclover Way, BH24 3FW and is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 till 17:00 selling hot drinks, freshly made sandwiches, cakes when available and also is the home of Idelica’s frozen paella. Come and say hello to Baldy and enjoy a lovely weekday lunch or drink at the same time.

This is Baldy…..

Baldy is feeling festive…..

Baldy has been searching the unit far and wide to try and find a festive outfit for this week’s final paella cook before Christmas. After failing to find anything other than the hat supplied by a very generous customer, he got waylaid in a game of Christmas hide and seek. Baldy thought he looked fine and indeed dandy dressed as a Christmas lemon tree, excitedly shouting out to Emma to “come and find me if you think you can”. Baldy was convinced that nobody could see through his clever disguise and was shocked when Emma threw a marker pen at his head, dislodging his ‘outfit’ and revealing his sanctum. Baldy now believes that Emma has a magical hidden eye in order to decipher his fiendish camouflage and is skulking around the warehouse, randomly popping up to scare her whilst shouting “there. You didn’t see that coming did you!”.

Emma is furious…..

This is Baldy…..

Baldy is working ‘hard’…..

In preparation for today’s Thursday fresh paella, available from 5pm to 7pm either for collection from Idelica’s premises at Unit D1 Platinum Jubilee Business Park or for delivery to the local area (Ringwood, St Ives and St Leonards for now), Emma told Baldy to come up with a plan for deliveries.

Proud that he was able to use his big boy pen rather than crayons, Baldy came up with a perfect way of showing where deliveries could be taken to and how much they would charge. Baldy worked very hard on this. Emma rolled her eyes. Baldy is an idiot.

Once Emma had corrected the work, weekly Thursday deliveries are to be made as follows:

1 - if you want a delivery of fresh paella and/or cheesecake, let us know in advance. This can be anytime from the previous Friday up until 3pm on the day of cooking.
2 - make the order by email ([email protected]) or call us on 01425 350350. Let us know the number you want and a preferred delivery time (between 5:30 and 7:00)
3 - you will receive confirmation of your order and an estimated actual delivery time.
4 - when your paella arrives we will have our card reader with us so that you can pay at the point of delivery (cash also accepted).

If you want to keep it simple just come along to the unit where you will be served your order and even take a seat in our warm waiting area whilst we prepare it for you.

This is Baldy…..

Baldy is excited…..

In addition to Idelica being open every day at their unit at D1 Platinum Jubilee Business Park, Hopclover Way, Ringwood BH24 3FW serving Spanish treats, drinks and sandwiches to the public, he is now being asked by Emma to deliver their weekly fresh paella to the local area to try and help some of those who want to try Idelica’s amazing paella or cheesecake but can’t get out. Emma has said that if he works hard, she will take him to meet Santa.

Baldy is now thinking about what MEAT Santa looks like - is he just one type of meat cooked tenderly and decorated in a Christmas style or is he in fact a selection of different meaty treats? Baldy is dragging Emma around the supermarket looking at the 3 bird roasts and asking her ‘could this be meat Santa’?. Emma is at the end of her tether. Baldy is an idiot.

Sorry to anybody who turned up at Greyfriars after about 6pm yesterday hoping for freshly cooked paella. Unfortunately the high winds picked up our gazebo and threw it against the side of the building upside down. The picture of a mangled piece of metal is one of the frame pieces which bent around my head as the wind took it leaving me with a bit of a headache today.

Thank you so much to all those who stopped to help me try and recover as much as I could. We will be back, but may have to rethink where we place the gazebo as we can’t risk this happening ever again.

Greyfriars fresh paella Thursday - this week (5th December). This week, rather than our frozen paella, Baldy will be cooking outside of Greyfriars. As this is a bit of an experiment, he will be doing chicken and chorizo paella only and it will be ready from 5pm. Baldy will be there from 3pm with Idelica’s Spanish Christmas gifts as well. He hopes to see you all!

What a wonderful Christmas Time we had at Ringwood’s Winter Wanderland on Sunday. Thanks to all those who stopped by and said hello. Thank you even more to those who bought things. We are back at Greyfriars this week on Thursday where we will have our Christmas gift sets ready to collect. As it is an AFC Bournemouth home match (vs Tottenham) on Thursday, we will try something different and be cooking paella there instead of having frozen.

Remember you can collect all of our products from our office at D1 Platinum Jubilee Business Park Monday to Friday from 10am till 4pm. We have a waiting area in the office where you can keep warm whilst we prepare your order. Feel free to phone in advance to arrange a collection time or if you’re feeling adventurous just turn up!

He’s back. The bald headed one is set up and open for business outside of Greyfriars in Ringwood. No fresh paella today as we have another event on at the same time, but we have our any 3 for £20 frozen paella offer on as well as burnt basque cheesecake. Also, this week we have some of our deluxe churros and hot chocolate sets (perfect Christmas present for the chocoholic in the family). Pics to follow but we are also taking orders for Spanish Christmas hampers. Order today and collect next week (potentially also available for delivery.

Baldy has his guitar and is hoping for a singalong as well

27/11/2024

Baldy is back to normal at Greyfriars tomorrow after last week’s snowy conditions. No fresh paella this week as Idelica have multiple Christmas type events over the next few days (including a stand at Ringwood’s Winter Wonderland on Sunday). Baldy will still have all varieties of frozen paella however, plus Burnt Basque Cheesecake. This week, he also has a small number of Idelica’s Christmas churros and chocolate gift set for sale as well. Remember all of these items are also available to collect from our offices if you can’t make Greyfriars where we will welcome you warmly and offer a seat whilst we prepare your order. Just let us know and we will make sure we are there!

Baldy is also feeling ponderous…..

He was listening to the Jeremy Vine show this afternoon where they were talking about dogs celebrating Christmas and Jeremy said it was ‘serious’. Baldy is contemplating the religious connotations of dogs accepting the birth of Jesus into the world and how they have adapted their own canine construct of the festivities to celebrate the remembrance of Christians’ saviour. Baldy is also thinking about whether dogs, like humans, have the freedom of choice to adopt their own God beliefs and whether or not these mirror the various human religions or if dogs have their own animal deities to worship.

It might be a long afternoon.

Baldy is an idiot!

POSTCODE NOW CORRECTED - thanks to Geoff! Come and find us at Unit D1 Platinum Jubilee Business Park, Hopclover Way, Ringwood BH24 3FW.

Baldy is sad not to be serving his adoring people outside of Greyfriars today but he is somewhat heartened having set up his selling table at the office instead (we call it Tapas Towers!)

For 1 week only (back to Greyfriars next week weather permitting), the weekly sale of frozen paella, cakes and Spanish gifts will happen at our base. The fresh paella is also available from 5pm to 7pm. This week we have Seafood Paella and Chicken and Chorizo Paella.

***UPDATE*** Baldy is extremely excited to learn that both our famous Burnt Basque Cheesecake and our super moist chocolate olive oil cake are also available from our offices today (see below). Baldy is there now and is currently staring at the cakes in the fridges hoping that he can have them all to himself. Please come and buy before he gobbles the lot!

We are not going to set up outside Greyfriars today - it’s not safe to do so considering nothing has been gritted.

We are still cooking our fresh paellas as planned though, and tonight it’s both our chicken and chorizo paella and SEAFOOD!! Instead of collecting at Greyfriars, you can pop by our office between 5 and 7 to collect instead.

Address is Unit D1 Platinum Jubilee Business Park, Hopclover Way BH24 3FW.

Hopefully back to normal next week
