"Victoria Wood meets Pavarotti"
THIS SUNDAY (13th), matinée show at 2.00pm

Nicola Mills has turned opera on its head in this funny and inspiring show. She combines her down to earth Northern roots with singing her career as an opera singer in this truly unique show, not to be missed. Nicola will amaze you with her voice and stories of working class life, to singing in some of Europe’s finest opera houses, to then taking opera to the streets. This is the story of how Opera for the People was born.

And it’s not just opera. The audience choose the songs from her Song Menu (Mozart to musicals). It’s like nothing you’ve seen before. Taking the ‘posh’ out of opera. Nicola’s story is unique from start to finish. Unmissable.

Tickets £12 from Visit Masham community office, 01765-680200, or www.wegottickets.com/mashamtownhall

Playing here on Tuesday 29th October, the GIGSPANNER BIG BAND are a unique force in British folk music...
Beginning life as a trio - with legendary Steeleye Span fiddle player Peter Knight joined by percussionist Sacha Trochet and guitarist Roger Flack - the Big Band adds Edgelarks (Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin - BBC Folk Awards 'Best Duo'), and Bellowhead co-founder and melodeon player extraordinaire, John Spiers.
While Peter Knight, as part of Steeleye Span’s classic 1970s line-up, helped invent a brand of folk rock that is still influential today, John Spiers, with Bellowhead and a host of other projects, has had an equally profound impact on the landscape of traditional music over the last two decades.
Characterised by riotous inventiveness, technically gifted individual playing and subtle collaborative interaction, this coming together of several of the biggest names on the folk-roots scene combines a deep knowledge of roots traditions with a ceaselessly boundary-pushing approach.
Tickets £25, from Visit Masham Community Office, 01765-680200, or www.wwegottickets.com/mashamtownhall.
