🎄💚🙌🏼 we’ve officially closed for Christmas & we’ve just got time to say, three cheers to our incredible volunteers, hip, hip hooray 🙌🏼💚🎄. Huge thanks to everyone who’s attended events, enjoyed concerts, and visited our beautiful town hall, but mostly raise a toast to this wonderful lot, they work so hard to make sure you all have a fabulous time. 💚 ⭐️ thank you volunteers & here’s to another year of adventures with you in 2025 ⭐️💚

Due to events taking place over the coming weeks the following room closures will take place at Rochdale Town Hall -

The Mayor’s Parlour will be closed for Santa’s Parlour from 10am -13.00pm on Saturday 14th and Saturday 21st December

The Old Council Chamber will be closed for a private event from 12.00pm - 16.00pm on Tuesday 17th December

The Great Hall will be closed for a private event from 13.00– 15.00pm on Wednesday 18th December

We have an update on the peregrine falcons living at Rochdale Town Hall. Nature lovers will recall that, sadly, the four eggs failed to hatch earlier this year.

Luckily one egg shell was safely and legally recovered from the nest and, following testing at UK Centre for Ecology, we can now reveal the findings.

The tests showed there was no evidence of any egg development, as the embryos never formed, and this was the same for the other three eggs.

Local birding experts think a new adult male falcon was in the nest this year, and this would offer an explanation.

Thanks for your patience in waiting for the results from the lab.

Young people from Rochdale’s Youth Parliament had the chance to take part in our Fantastical Tales Tour last night and then took part in a Q&A with our wonderful facilitators.

The young people are currently developing and devising their own tour for other young people which will be launched in 2025. Watch this space 👀

Due to events and filming over the coming weeks the following closures will take place:

The Mayor’s Parlour, Mayor’s Reception Room, Small Exchange and Mayor’s Entrance will be closed to the public from Wednesday December 4th – Wednesday December 11th (inclusive) for filming.

The Martlet Kitchen will be closed to visitors on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th December for filming. It will re-open on Wednesday December 11th at 10am.

Due to private events taking place this week some areas of the Town Hall will be closed to members of the public. The dates are as follows -

🗓️Wednesday 27th November- The Great Hall will be closed from 12pm

🗓️Friday 29th November - The Exchange, The Great Hall will be closed all day

Our historic rooms including The Small Exchange, Mayors Reception, Mayors Parlour, Old Council Chamber and The Bright Hall will be open as usual.

Over the past few weeks our fabulous volunteers have been busy in our Conservation Studios 🖌️🎨

Working alongside our Stained Glass Conservator, Veronica Smith, volunteers have created wonderful stained glass decorations for our Christmas trees 🎄

Make sure you call in and take a look 👀 They are simply beautiful. Well done to all of our volunteers who took part and created these beautiful designs 🙌👏

Father Christmas and his special guests including the mayor of Rochdale, Middleton Arena Sleeping Beauty pantomime stars Castle Clown and Princess Beauty along with pupils from Falinge Park High School switched-on the Christmas lights earlier, and Rochdale is twinkling! 🎅
