The Narcissi. Part 1.

I’m capturing the beauty of each narcissi as they bloom. With the sun pushing the season ahead so quickly, it’s a challenge to keep up.

These ones are currently growing in the field. More to come but they won’t be around for long as the season progresses and we move into tulip season.

- £10 for 25 stems of Geranium (shorter stems but they smell absolutely divine)

Some of the lovely things leaving the flower shed today.

It’s the first of April and the field is awash with beautiful spring flowers. Such a difference from this time last year.

The sun is shining, the tulips are nearly here, the ranunculus are also on their way and the narcissi keep on coming. The true start of the season is here.

Who knew daffodils could be so swoon worthy?

An utter delight to pick this morning.

Makes all those bulb planting hours worth it.

A quiet moment with the flowers this morning.

Listening to Women’s Hour recently, someone said something that stopped me in my tracks - there will always be more work waiting, even after those extra hours. So I put down my to-do list and made time for what matters.

Before racing to the field, I had coffee and toast with the kids, then gathered my little vase testing samples and gifted myself some arranging time. Just three ingredients from the field and garden - simple but soul-filling.

It feels like forever since I’ve had my own blooms to work with. There’s something magical about focusing on just one thing, purely for joy.

We’re on the cusp of the season now - those beautifully chaotic days are just around the corner. But that’s exactly why these quiet moments matter most.

What small joy might you carve out for yourself? Even 10 minutes can be enough to fill your cup. Share in the comments how you find your moments of calm.

It’s all about willow this week—from planting a new hedge to harvesting the first catkins of the season.

Salix Sekka is something special. Also called fantail willow, its stems flatten and fan out as they mature, adding sculptural elegance to designs.

Salix Eugenii is another early star—graceful, slender stems with pink-blushed, heart-shaped catkins. Beautiful fresh, stunning dried, an essential for spring floristry.

And then there are those ribbons— swoon.

Every willow on the farm has been chosen with florists in mind, offering early-season catkins and lush foliage through the year.

Bunches are available now—DM to order.

I could never choose just one, but hellebores are definitely in my top five. There’s something so special about the way they appear in the quiet of late winter—petals soft yet resilient, unfolding slowly as the season shifts.

Out in the field, they’re just beginning to wake. Blush pinks, speckles, moody slate greys, pure whites, deep velvety burgundies. Some with ruffled edges, others smooth and understated. Each one a little jewel, perfect for bringing depth and movement to a design.

Soon, the field will be overflowing with abundance, but for now, it’s the slow magic of watching and waiting.

Do you love using hellebores in your work? Tell me in the comments. And if you want first pick when they’re ready to cut, sign up for my mailing list via the link in bio.

Another chrysanthemum from the tunnel.

Gorgeous, but I don’t think she’s an Allouise or Avignon.

She’s earmarked for propagation next year but I’d love to know what she is.

I seem to have fallen down a ‘Mum’s’ rabbit hole this afternoon, with one variety starting to look very much like another, so if you’ve got any ideas please do let me know.

The dahlias.

A rather sumptuous bunch for the bedside table.

These were left overs from last Friday’s orders and I’m very pleased to have them as the field is looking quite bare.

I’m hoping the dahlias are able to bounce back and give us a final flourish to finish the season. Fingers and everything else crossed.

Favourite bucket of the day.

Difficult choice but roses win every time for me.

What’s your favourite flower?

There’s also something a bit special in this bucket too. Magic Moment, you are indeed magic and smell magnificent.

Flower’s of the moment.

Poppies. Sweet Peas. Roses. Scabious. And a few curlywurly stocks for good measure.

I’m a bit obsessed with the sweet pea tendrils. Possibly a bit OTT for this vase, but they were picked so I had to use them.

I’ve been falling behind carving out time just to focus on the flowers but Monday seem to be a good day…earmarked for admin and child free (for the next 10 days at least), just need to come up with a catchy hashtag.

Any ideas? Let me know.

Dark and moody florals for summer solstice.

Sharing some stills of Friday’s bowl.

I always feel a little torn when using images in reels as you don’t get the pleasure of really looking at what you’re being shown.

Lots of my growing choices and flower arranging ideas come from studying some of the beautiful photos talented people have shared on this app.

I know this isn’t going to increase my reach but sometimes artistic endeavour is more important.

And I love these photos.
