Toby came into the studio to create some headshots for his new acting venture. We kept the process simple and concise, concentrating on his looks and expression without any additional production. The idea was to give the casting agents who view his images the real Toby and not an over produced version.

He was great. Calm, focused and open to direction whilst being able to command the moment himself.

I love this portrait particularly, well done Toby.

A portrait at brunch.

This was captured at an event with at the I attended. This chap was my first sitting of the morning and helped me get set up. And as always I was happy to capture the stare.

Ken got in touch after I put a call out for volunteers in my home town of Royston for a new portrait project.

It sounds cliche and cheesy but one thing I love about my job is meeting new people. The 5 minute chat before the photos begin is one of my favourite parts of a portrait session. People are just bloody interesting. Thanks Ken.

Yours Truly.

When I took my Dad and Granddad's portrait most recently, I wanted my own capture too. So I sat in the chair and asked my dad to take the shot. I realised it's not that simple explaining to a non-photographer how to focus an image when back button focus is on. But he got there in the end. Can't say this is my favourite photo of myself ever but it sits next to their portraits as a set of three generations of my family.

Dogs deserve portraits too.

I took this portrait of Ted for my recent
Photo talk at the . I needed something I could video and show my editing process on the day.

I asked around and of course Ted volunteered, although looking at his face you'd think he was under duress

Whilst working on some actor headshots with Toby, I asked if at the end of the session I could take his portrait for my portfolio. I had an idea of lighting and the set that I wanted to try. Something classic and simple. I'm really pleased with the result. Definitely going to try this with some other subject going forward. Thanks Toby

Last week I started a new personal project. With a world of screens and phones, I want to explore the different outdoor and social environments that kids inhabit. Thinking back to my youth, most weekends and post 3.30pm were spent hang out with friends, kicking a ball about.

It's not about saying "it was better in my day" as I think once you scratch the surface, you'll see that a huge portion of the young today do spend their time outside away from the perils of 2025. This project is about exploring those microcosms and communities and to elevate the idea that the kids are alright.

Thanks to Mila & Max for volunteering for this shoot and .
