Another brilliant weekend of Christmas cheer with the band!

Celebrating the end of term at Studlands Rise school, playing around town on Friday night and carols in the high street again this morning.

Only 3 more Christmas engagements to go this year including carols at Richard Cox and St George Care Home on Christmas morning.

A big thank you to everyone who has supported us this year and to all of the band who give up their spare time to raise money for the band and our chosen good cause Royal Papworth Hospital Charity ❤️🎄🎺

We are sad to say a final goodbye to our friend Giles Whittome.

Giles was a larger than life character, a generous friend of the band and a true gentleman. We will all miss you greatly.

Royal Papworth Hospital Charity is the band’s chosen good cause for Christmas 2024, so please support us this Christmas and we will be able to donate even more to this fantastic organisation ☺️🎄🎺

🎅Royston Town Band is spreading Christmas cheer and sharing a proportion of their performance donations with our Charity.

Several of the band members have been treated at Royal Papworth Hospital and raising money is there way of saying a huge thank you.

Catch them performing this December:

☃️14th, 10am - 12pm: Carols at Angel Pavement
☃️15th, 2pm - 4pm: Christmas Concert Royston Parish Church
☃️17th, 6.30pm - 8pm: Carols at Tesco
☃️20th: Visiting the pubs of Royston in the evening
☃️21st, 10am - 12pm: Carols at Angel Pavement
☃️24th, 10am - 12pm: Carols at Tesco

We were privileged to be asked to support the Royston Rememberance Day parade as well as our usual service in Barley this year.

What a great turn out at such an important event. Well done to all involved 👍

*** Update!

After a meeting with HCC on Friday, we have agreed an extension to our lease at 10% of the current market rate. So our rent increase will now be from £500pa to £738pa for at least 3 years, rather than from £500pa to £7,385pa.

This is good news and I really believe that we wouldn't have achieved this without the support you have all given to the band - thank you from all of us in the band.

10 years ago we moved into our new bandroom on Tannery Drift in Royston. We fundraised for and built the bandroom, but the land it is on is leased.

Our lease is now up for renewal, and we are being told that we will be charged at the commercial rate - £7,385 per annum instead of our previous £500.

We were delighted when Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire was chosen as the Christmas charity for Royston Town Band in 2023.

We are grateful for the band's support in raising funds for us through numerous events held in Royston and nearby villages. We are in awe of the band members' commitment to their craft, especially during such a busy time of the year.

We are delighted to share that Home-Start received £1,000 in donations, and we owe a HUGE thank you to everyone in our local community who donated in support of the band and our charity.

Well that’s the Christmas season done! On to 2024…

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2023 by donating to the band and coming to our concerts. We are very much a band for the community and of the community, and we love being part of everything that goes on in the town.

Thanks also to the band for turning up every week, the committee for giving up their free time to make sure everything happens as it should. An especially big thank you to Steve Earley and Sheila Ball who not only lead the main band and development band so professionally but also do a great deal behind the scenes.
