So, it’s complete. A massive thank you to Michael Batchelor for donating the time and efforts in creating this marvellous piece of artwork . This and the other work you have done is just fantastic. WHY DO LOCAL BUSINESSES MATTER? #rugbytown #rugbylabour #warwickshire Did you know that Bilton Village is mentioned in the Doomsday book? In 1086 it is recorded having 33 households. Households: 23 villagers. 9 smallholders. 1 priest Bilton sat in the “hundred” of Marton. It wa one of the were 35 places in the hundred of Marton in Domesday Book - Places you’ll recognise like Dunchurch (Bilton was larger) Flecknoe, Hillmorton … that it is recorded in the Doomsday book also means that it was lived in long before the Norman Conquest of 1066. Bilton was probably a early Anglo Saxon settlement as it has a village green where the properties face inwards. This style of village indicates an early settlement as animalscould be grazed/kept safe at night in middle and all those who lived around the green looked inward to protect each other. Granny’s is a listed building, known to have been originally constructed in 1500’s, this is the time of the Tudors. Why should you shop local and support the development of business in Bilton .., how about maintaining 1500 years of local history and keeping its population alive!!
