More august flower spam. Weddings are now done for August, I have a cheeky week away next week, last week of the school holidays, before the September weddings start.
I love what I do, but I’ve always hated the name of my business, I always used to be Alex Ball Flowers until some cretin stole my domain name and I couldn’t get it back so quickly had to think of something. At the time most of my work was in Rye and surrounding areas so it seemed a good idea at the time. It has worked well for my website, but it’s quite annoying being asked to deliver bunches of flowers, and although I did it in lockdown, I’m not a shop. #weddingfloristrye #seasonalflowers #eventflorist #weddingflorist
Well that went quick, they say, if you want something done, ask a busy person! July is set to be even busier.
Yesterday I was asked ‘ so what do you do’ (I presumed they meant for a living. I am a gardener and a Wedding florist, I’ve always been a gardener, I was a gardener before I was a florist. Whilst I love creating wedding flowers, the deadlines, logistics, the personal details, the mess, the clearing up that goes with it. I also love my gardening, it calms my mind, for me it’s about creating, nurturing, exercise, working with uncontrollable nature, learning and experimenting. I manage 3 large gardens all year round which gets a bit hectic at this time of year, but I do have very understanding clients. I also love the hectic wedding season, I suppose I just function better when I’m flat out.

Carnation comeback.. a budget friendly flower that lasts forever……love them or hate them ? I know they are not English but it’s tricky at this time of year, butterfly ranunculus would have been better but big bucks💷💷💷
When you ask chat GBT to write your instagram post😂. Absolutely! Here’s a captivating description you could use for your Instagram post about the floral arrangement in the image:
“Embracing elegance with every petal... 🌸✨ This stunning floral centerpiece, a harmonious blend of rich reds and delicate pinks, gracefully adorns the length of the table, adding a touch of opulence to the setting. Each bloom whispers of beauty, serenading a feast for the senses. Paired with fine dinner plates, glistening glassware, and the cozy glow of soft lighting, this arrangement is a symphony of sophistication. A truly mesmerizing sight, where nature meets luxury in a dance of enchantment. 🍽️🌿 #FloralSplendor #ElegantTablescapes #InBloomWithBeauty”
Bit over the top I feel😂😂😂
As a florist, I find joy in planning my wedding floral arrangements through the art of sketching. I have discovered that sketching enables me to retain information effectively and visualize the aesthetic outcome of various elements. #weddingseason2024 #weddingpreparation #homework

Valentine’s Day is approaching, we have early spring temperatures and the bulbs are popping up outside, don’t think it will last but, I’ve put these forced hyacinth and narcissi in the George whilst I’m away. I’ve added some stitch supports to help them along the way, I’ve used fresh larch to make these heart ❤️ ish shapes as a unique nod to valentines. #hotelflorist #springbulbs #valentinesdayflowers #sustainableflowers
Gradually transitioning into the next floral season, (dare I say it springtime) starting with the infamous valentines day, 🥰🥰where no doubt the George Hotel will be full of romantic couples. I on the other hand will be flying down the slopes out of control with my 14 yr old son⛷️⛷️⛷️. I’ve been updating this twiggy installation with some homegrown strawflowers, it’s not finished but And I still think it’s rather pretty, I’m really not a 100 red roses sort of girl. Watch this space for the finished version. #hotelflorist #sustainablefloristry #valentinesday
