I finished pruning all my Roses last month and have been busy feeding them with ash from the log burner and very well rotted horse manure-thanks to Skylark and Jasper. It’s hard to believe the Roses in the first video are the same Roses in the last picture.Over April and May I will keep them well mulched and watered so we have an abundance from June onwards.
I have introduced new varieties this year such as Wollerton Old Hall, Emily Brontë and The Pilgrim.
Perfect for romantic bridal bouquets and farewell tributes to your loved one.

Cosmos come in a beautiful array of pinks, apricots and blush, and I love the Double Click variety. Cosmos sit beautifully with Zinnia and Dahlia, it gives a delicate touch to a bouquet or arrangement.
My Cosmos seedlings are just starting to poke through the compost. Seedlings do benefit from warmth ( 18-21 oc) for germination, so place on a sunny windowsill in the kitchen or a heat mat.
Pinching will encourage young plants to branch out and give you even more flowers.
Do give them a try, they are easy to grow, and bees love them.

I made the most of the lovely weather today and planted more flowering shrubs, including
🌸Lilac
🌸Guelder Rose
🌸Mock Orange
( to use the common names).
They are a beautiful addition to any bouquet or arrangement in late Spring and early Summer.

Heavenly Hellebores.
Hellebores bring colour and beauty into the garden even on the coldest and darkest days of winter. They love a shady spot so are ideal it you want some interest in a hidden corner. Mine started to flower before Christmas but will be at their best in March. They don’t make good cut flowers until they are fully matured with their seed pots starting to form and last much better with some sort of water source. I love them in an early spring arrangement and they are a welcome addition to a late winter funeral wreath with their texture, subtle colours and delicate tracery. They are a tricky flower, so difficult to find commercially, but are available from local, artisan flower farmers like myself. They come in colours such as whites, palest to dusky pinks, lime, and dark mauves.
They are a truly beautiful addition to any garden.

Marsh Marigolds, Flag Iris and Forget- me-nots are now replacing the earlier Snowdrops and Daffodils that edge our ditches and natural ponds. Yellow and blue so always a great colour combination.
