Today I made several small flower posies for each family member to take to their loved ones funeral. They wanted natural garden spring flowers, each one made with a different type of flower and something you couldn't get from the normal high street florist. Here are a few of them.

Funeral Flowers or Farewell flowers, it is always an honour to be asked to create them. I love making them as they bring a little comfort and joy at a time that is hugely sad and difficult. Flowers are very personal and while there are florists offering traditional, floral tributes, where do you go if you want something a bit different and personal? Flowers that you know your loved one would have wanted, flowers that meant something to them or remind you of them, maybe even incorporating flowers from their garden or yours.

All my funeral work starts with a chat, getting an idea of what you might like and what might work for the occasion. Whether you want to leave your tribute at the burial site, or whether you want to take the flowers back to the wake and give them to friends, anything is possible. Do what you feel is right for you, there are no rules.

Although my flower growing flower season officially runs from April into October I am always available to work on funeral flowers throughout the year, so please do get in touch when you need me.

Today I sowed various varieties of Scabiosa. Some of the seed pods of the variety Stellata will end up in one of my dried flower creations and the fresh flower adds movement to my wedding bouquets, flower subscriptions or farewell flowers. My favourite varieties are Summer Berries and Black Knight. The bees absolutely adore them so it’s a win, win.
