We had a very special treat this morning by the singers from Dawn Chorus. We were setting up a tent for an event at Tremenhere Kitchen and I mentioned to one of the singers going inside that I'd love them to sing Shoshaloza (a South african song) as I've heard them sing it before. We had just finished setting up the tent and the whole group came outside and sang it especially for us as well as another beautiful South African song that was sung at Mandela's funeral. I couldn't help but cry, hearing african songs from my homeland always make me very emotional. Thank you Dawn chorus. They also told me a lovely story of how they got to play with the Langa choir who came to play at Geevor mine in St Just. The founder of Glastonbury Michael Eavis heard the Langa singing in Cape town, SA and decided to fly the entire choir out to play on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury and then took them down to st. Just. I wish I had seen that especially as its just down the rd.
