We are a member of Music Venue Trust!!!!!

We are so pleased to announce that our application to become a member of the national organisation, Music Venues Trust (MVT), was successful.

MVT acts to protect, secure and improve UK’s live music venue circuit for the benefit of venues, communities and upcoming artists.

The Guildhall has been classified as Grassroots Music & Arts Space (GMAS). This is great news for us as we’re now connected to a wider network of other venues, promoters and artists.

Today is a significant day in the Guildhall Renewal Project!

Today we welcome Classic Builders onsite 🎉🎉

Sorry we’ve been rather quiet on here for a while. Since we closed the doors for the Guildhall Renewal Project there’s been a lot of work going behind the scenes including extensive opening up works, finding a few surprises all of which informed the final design, but it’s all go now.

With Classic moving onsite the anticipated reopening is early 2026 and we can’t wait!

Cornish Myth and Magic
As the seasons change and the nights draw in, would you like to be reminded of the mystical places in our ancient land? Then join us on Wednesday 2nd October, 7pm at St Ives' Guildhall with author Cheryl Straffon to explore the Cornish Celtic Otherworld, through the realm of traditional tales, stories, myths, legends and folklore, wherein we encounter supernatural beings, such as fairies, piskies, witches and the spirits of the dead ancestors. This talk is based on Cheryl's book, Between the Realms, Cornish Myth and Magic.

Though we’re sad to not be taking part in the St Ives September Festival this year due to our ongoing renewal project, there’s still loads to see and do at venues all over town.

From the 14th-28th, enjoy a two week celebration of music & arts with St Ia's - St Ives Parish Church, St. Ives Arts Club, The Western Hotel, St Ives Society of Artists, St Ives Community Orchard & Nature Reserve, The Cornerstone (St Ives Library & VIC) and more.

Tickets can be purchased from St Ives Box Office at stives.ticketsolve.com

Of course, there’s also a variety of street performances taking place every day throughout the festival, including ‘Up Next’ - a series of spoken word events taking place at Norway Square run by the town’s Youth Engagement team.

We look forward to joining the September Festival line-up once again when we reopen, better than ever!

Cornwall has many legends and myths set in our ancient landscape. Some of our stories resemble Australian songlines, the paths on which the ancestors of the aborigines sang into existence and created all the visible world. These routes were mystical, and spiritual, and every rock, tree, river or water hole is sacred.

If they are not sung the land loses its spirit and dies.

Join CASPN (Cornish Ancient Sites Protection Network) Founder, Andy Norfolk, for his inspiring talk at the Guildhall Upper Rooms on Wednesday 22nd May, 7pm.

Tickets start from £7. Book your ticket here:

St Ives Judo Easter Course was founded by Major Mike O’Neill in 1963. This event was a first in Cornwall for Judo and this along with the dedication and skill of the late ‘John Couch’ and members, quickly inspired the creation of Judo Clubs across Cornwall and the Guildhall Easter meet became an exciting annual event in the Judo calendar. The St Ives Judo Club is still going strong at their Island Centre location. If you are interested in learning Judo contact [email protected] or visit their website

Secrets of the Stones Series 2 starts on Wednesday February 21st in the Guildhall Upper Rooms.

The winter sky is adorned with sparkling constellations and celestial wonders. It has stirred the imagination of people across millennia, from the captivating story of Orion the Hunter and the seven sisters of the Pleiades in Greek mythology to more indigenous tales of winter cycles and meteor showers.

These celestial narratives have enriched our understanding of the cosmos while imparting lessons about courage and love, at the darkest time of the year. Winter's starry expanse continues to beckon us to look up and ponder the meaning of the Universe.

Join Carolyn Kennett on the 21st February in the Guildhall Upper Rooms to explore winter sky stories linking them to the megalithic wonders on our doorstep.
