Thanks to those of you who came to the Japanese Supper Club this weekend...it was an epic task but I'm so glad to have been able to share my love of Japanese cooking with you and to see all your warm smiles. It really does make all the hard work worth it.😘

Feeling grateful that we even have bottled water. Thinking about the millions of people-all over the world-who have to trek for miles carrying water daily just to survive.

I'm in love with brassicas. Especially the Hispi which has had somewhat of a moment these last couple of years. Hispi or -I prefer it's older name- Sweetheart Cabbage, is very delicate, delicious and sweet. Great braised or grilled then slathered with sauces. In America they call it Conehead Cabbage which reminded me of that film....😂
Here's to the humble Cabbage and to the coming spring 🥬🪺🌱☀️we've waited long enough.

SOM TAM A GO GO !!! Getting the flavours ready for our Supper Club this Saturday 30th March.
Legend has it that when workers moved from Isaan to Bangkok, they shared their love of green papaya salad. The recipe evolved over the years and was given the Thai name som tam. Som tam means "pounded sour."
I love making this salad balancing the sweetness, the heat, the zingy lime and crisp veg with nutty roast peanuts . I never get bored of eating it either! Can't wait to share it with you.

What an absolute treat it has been meeting and sharing food with you. The theme for this Supper Club will be Persian.... Drawing inspiration from the honey filled mountains of Tabriz, to the food markets of Tehran, from rice paddies of the Caspian Sea to the deserts of central Iran and the Persian Gulf....we will be blending flavours that encapsulate this ancient and very noble food culture as if it were a well written poem...a feast for you our honoured and beloved guest.

These events have been such fun to host and it's been a joy to watch all you beautiful people meeting new friends and sharing food and laughter. It's been a true spirit lifter and we all need a bit of that right now. ❤️

DAN DAN NOODLES ARE BACK!!! 🍜 😍
One of the most iconic and dare I say delicious street foods of Sichaun. Thin noodles are served in a rich, savoury, spicey, sesame sauce topped with pork or temphe, greens and peanuts. Stir everything together and slurrrrp. The love affair starts here!
We will be serving them on Thursday12th Oct 6pm-9pm for the amazing Rosie Brown Band + Bev Lee Harling music event (check out the Beacon blog for more details on this event ).

EVENTS!!! We’re looking forward to hosting a wonderful birthday feast for a lovely customer this weekend. Event catering is how we started and something we just love doing. It’s so lovely to work with a client to create a bespoke menu and of course an honour to share in special days full of love and it’s so great to be able to do this again. This video was from a small garden wedding reception in an absolutely idyllic location last summer. The couple had had to cancel twice before due to the church having a fire and then Covid so it was extra special to see them able to gather their loved ones and celebrate their love.
