Cooking instructions below πŸ‘‡

1. If purchasing tickets ahead, use either a heat-proof Skddle or speak to a Resident Advisor. Both are available through a linktree.
2. If purchasing on the door, send Β£5 (or more, if you prefer) into a pre-warmed PayPal QR code using their app.
3. Wear protective clothing which allows for sweat and self-expression to flow. The kitchen area ***rbar will be prepared to be safe, welcoming, and unobstructed for dancing. We are bringing the latest
ovens, microwΓ’vΔ“s and PA to prepare the music to its best 🀌
4. Remove any traces of prejudice, judgement, and expectations before entering the kitchen. These produce an unwelcome taste which spoils the broth.

Menu 🍽
Starter [9pm - 12pm]: deep and smooth house & garage, cocktail bar style, followed by a popier selection.
1st course [12am - 1am]: introduction of vintage cuts and some hardcore ingredients.
2nd course [1am - 2am]: hotter dishes which can include spicer tempos, harder beats, and intense tastes.
3rd course [2am - 3am]: messy mukbang h***y hour.
4th course [3am - 4am]: experimental, Bloom-ing-ment-al dishes with the raw, rare and hardcore come together.
Dessert [4am - 5am]: delicious rounding off of the meal with strong emotional tones, sweet harmonies, and finishing on a satisfying note.

We at Prime Cuts wish you a pleasent evening tonight, and looking forward to seeing you there 😁

Something very different this time, and something with quite a story...

Absolutely Flawless was our student club night for the Salford Uni DJ Society, made possible after 3 months of work and preparation. We had a cracking debut, but after only 2 weeks we've had to put it on hold until the venue sorts out very serious noise complaints. Absolutely Flawless was a true love of labour and to see it end after all the effort we went to make it happen is such a disappointment. Not to let all this music go to waste, I'm making a 3 part mix of the music I'd wanted to play on that night: pop house tunes from banger tracks, smooth garage vocals, trance-adjacent anthems, and some naughty music thrown in too.

Part 1 is for Valentine's Day and features pop house, some classics thrown in, and new music I really like. Very fun, very camp, and very lovely!

Xin ChΓ o Primers!

As the new year is upon us, I'll publish the last episode of Prime Cuts of 2022 and for the forseable future: I have loved making PC but sadly my commitments for the new year will mean it is just not possible to continue it while making it of an acceptable quality. I am so very grateful for all your support in this show, and while it won't be the very end of this project, it will have to be put away while other things get their time.

The last focus is one of the most interesting and exciting: the sound of Vinahouse! We will take the jaunt to Vietnam and the packed superclubs of Ho Chi Minh City & Hanoi to experience the local house music scene. We'll hear all about some of the key producers and labels, plus take a tour of some of the oldest, most vibrant and interesting music clubs in the country. We hear the music of Touliver X Rhymastic plus LINH KU providing the wonderful backing πŸ˜„

Considering the more pop stylings of this music, I asked my fellow Shock Radio DJ and presenter Matt Mcgettrick to give us his top commercial hits of 2022, featuring Welcome to Gorgon City, LF SYSTEM, Matt Guy, and Nia Archives among his selections! Check out his programme Raveform on Mixcloud and Instagram if you want to hear more 😁

For the local heroes, I enlisted the help of fellow DJ and good friend Buried Deep to explore the vibrant jacking/main room house of the North West. He came back with some brilliant selections including Shapes, Werka and many more to hear! Plus, he has included an exclusive preview of "Summer Vibes" from his new EP "Synaptic Flow" which I am very proud to get first dibs on πŸ₯°

The minimix features the great and the good of the Vinahouse scene, showcasing the great quality and variety of music to listen out for. We feature Daniel Mastro, VAVH, and Teddy with both Vietnamese and English vocals represented.

You must be buzzing on acid 🫠πŸ₯΄πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

In this episode of Prime Cuts, we'll be focusing on the famous sound system and social nomads Spiral Tribe! We'll talk about their early formation and parties, the anarchist philosophy which drove their collective to the heights of Castlemorton on the 21st May 1992. We'll also hear about their move to France and being one of the most recognisable groups of the freetekno scene in Europe. Mark Harrision, one of the founding members, is writing a book on the freeparty scene during this time called "Black Electricity" out next year on Velocity Press.

The new releases cover the major hard techno and acid techno tracks of this year, featuring Ling Ling, Benji303, Bubbles, Fatima Hajji, PETDuo, plus the very rare Cluster 100 release for you 😁

The local techno heroes are of a more harder edge this week as we talk about and play a couple of Havok records from Manchester, Moments in Time again, plus Canato and Tekno Notice. Check them out of you want some North West representation in your playlists πŸ‘

The minimix is a whistle stop tour of some of the freetekno music I've collected over the years and will teleport you to the nearest abandoned warehouse or airfield πŸ₯΄πŸ˜΅

I will be your guide...

This episode of Prime Cuts is dedicated to the thing which started me on this path to music production and DJing: Ishkur's Electronic Music Guide! Starting on who Ishkur is and why the guide started, we'll hear about how the guide described the best [and, in Ish's opinion, worst] electronic dance music plus how we got to version 3 of the guide, now available here: https://music.ishkur.com

As the guide featured anything and everything electronic music, so the new music section and local heroes spreads across multiple styles and moods. We hear the House of TheBasement Discos to the modern techno of Mutual Rytm (in between the dirty electro of Sophie Forrest and the silly edits of LOBSTA B), plus the sound of Tuff London, WTCHCRFT, JiaLing, We Rob Rave and more!

The local heroes takes a wide tour of styles and locations across the North West. We hear the dubby deep techno of Dublock in Lancaster and Slownoise in Stockport, the grime beats of Owlybeats in Bolton [shout out to Jon Tetly for being a favourite of mine], to the glitchy maddness of UJTB in Blackburn (former Donk country), the old synth driven style of The Big Boss in Macclesfield, and mentioning for the third time this season: the talented Gullyteen from Liverpool!

The minimix will take you though many of the tracks featured in V.25 of Ishkur's Electronic Music Guide. It covers the oldest of house records to classic electro, techno and rave to end of some breaks for fun. It is a bit shaky at times, but I hope you can hear just how influential the guide was in educating me about the way this music changed and stretched across so many different moods and ideas. I hope it can do the same for you!

*Break!*

This episode is all about the Q***r ballrooms of New York and the music which accompanies the dance category known as voguing. We'll hear about what music was played in the early days of modern ballroom with a particular look at "The Ha Track" by Masters At Work. But we'll also talk about the terminology, the importance of its history in Q***r culture, and mention Madonna's "Vogue" as being the song to bring Ballroom into the mainstream [I should have mentioned Malcom McLaren's "Deep In Vogue" which features samples from "Paris Is Burning" and Willie Ninja in the video].

The new releases keep the American theme with music out of the North East of the USA like Baltimore, Jersey and Philly club [North East Beats] plus some bonus tracks from DJ Delish, AMOR SATYR & Siu Mata and childsplay again.

The local heroes start off with CVNT Tra### representing the UK's ballroom beats, moving into the North West's music scene for the UK breaks style. We feature Dulha, Keep It Cryptic, Murder He Wrote, Kultura Collective and more!

The minimix features my favourite voguing tracks together featuring the icons of MikeQ, Delish once again, Byrell The Great. Another favourite of mine, and looking forward to when I can play this music again 😁

Welcome rhythm fanatics,

This is an episode which I was so excited to research into and share: we're going to hear all about the Detroit TV programme "The New Dance Show" on WGPR during the 80s and 90s. I'll talk about the history of the show, the channel, plus how important the programme was to encapsulate the dance music culture of the techno city. If you want to see it for yourself, follow Caprice87 on Youtube for a well catalogued archive.

In the new releases of 2022 we feature both classic techno and electro from Mutual Rytm, Raiders, Terrestrial Access Network, Shun on CPURECORDS and more!

The local techno heroes include the wonderful Blasha & Allatt, Clergy Recordings, Esther Ofei, Moments In Time, Matrefakt, and Suddi Raval on Hello World Records. Always love the loopy, groovy techno style with plenty of percussion, and so glad to play it here.

There is also one of my favourite minimixes I've done for Prime Cuts! It features tracks from the show like Dish & Tell, Positive Feedback and I Wanna Rock [I am as amazed as you are that I got away with it], plus modern tracks which I think would have fitted in perfectly had The New Dance Show continued to today from Anz, Tygapaw and childsplay.

Listen below to the episode, and let me know what you think of the show: https://www.mixcloud.com/ShockRadio/prime-cuts-09112022/

Oi oi ravers,

This is a really exciting episode all on the prolific and hard working producer, DJ, and fellow Scot: Scott Brown! You'll hear all about his early career, his famous record Happy Vibes on Babyboom, plus how he got to be one of the key representatives of the happy hardcore scene.

The new releases are all on the faster hyper end of the scale with the new releases from Pillz, Innercore, plus some specials from 4 The Core Recordings via Kniteforce Records, Brutal Kuts and ending on the fasted track ever on Shock Radio: HekTeka's brilliant "Saturday" on Gabberdisco [205 BPM!]

Our local heroes is a mini-focus special on the sound of Donk and Scouse house, coming from Bolton, Blackburn and Liverpool. We played KB Project's classic remix of "Right By Your Side", an oldie from Andy Whitby and Audox with "Take You Back", plus one of my favourites: "You & I" by John Neal. We closed on the legacy of Manchester radio host, DJ and NW representative Stu Allan, playing his classic rave track "Let Me See Ya Move (Original)"

The minimix is all happy hardcore with some brilliant J-Core tracks slipping in there too. I love happy hardcore and forgot how wonderful it makes me feel πŸ₯°

Stay happy, stay hardcore,
DJ Clipping

House Music leads the way... 🎢

This is the first of the key focuses this season of Prime Cuts: Naked Music, the soulful, sensual and sexy House music label of the 2000s. It is one of my favourite labels for their musicality and style, so it is a pleasure to talk about the label and the story behind it!

In the 2022 releases we play the likes of Montel, CloudCore, Sochi Terada plus two favourites Fresh Take Records and TheBasement Discos πŸ˜πŸ‘Œ

The local heroes section is jam packed with talent featuring Ad Hoc Records, Tasty Recordings with Discotron & Sandy's Groove, Jelsen & Simmo from OBP, James Bright and Sprechen, Different Attitudes, Chequered Wax plus Aiden Francis all in the mix ❀️‍πŸ”₯🀩

After the focus track of Blue Six's Music & Wine (Miguel Migs classic Petalpusher mix), we go into the minimix. Can you name the tracks in it? πŸ€”πŸ˜‰

I said what? Acid! πŸ« πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ₯΄

This episode is all about the little silver box that went all the way to becoming the biggest instrument in electronic dance music: the Roland TB-303! We discuss the origin story of the synthesizer, how it failed to achieve what it was set out to do but was reborn with a new generation of producers.

Lots of acidic goodness in this one, though I must apologise for some of the audio trouble at the start and end - our emergency music got a bit over zealous that night and kept butting in πŸ˜’ Still, the local heroes section is a must listen: Live on Acid followed by 808 State's remix of HENGE's Exo along with Aftawerks, Gina Breeze on Sprechen, Body High and Kerrie.
