A few months back, I had the pleasure of doing a Naming Ceremony at the wedding reception of friends.

What a lovely idea to incorporate your little one into your special day!

This is a quaich.

I took this photo at a recent wedding where the couple used it as part of their ceremony.

It's a traditional Scottish cup designed for sharing a drink with a loved one.

It can be used as a lovely symbolic gesture at a wedding where the couple both drink from it together.

A humanist funeral is a meaningful non-religious ceremony led by a celebrant like me.

It’s the perfect option for families who want an authentic, personal reflection of the life of their loved one. This can be especially important if the person who died wasn’t religious.

I'm here when you need me to help say goodbye to your loved ones.

Last week, I did a Memorial Ceremony at The Goods In, Prestwich.

The flexibility of hiring the venue allowed unlimited time for multiple eulogies from lots of speakers from all aspects of M's life.

I think Memorials are likely to become more and more popular because of this.

When I came out in the early 00s, I never dreamed that I'd ever be able to get married let alone have the honour of being the Celebrant for other q***r people.

I'm accredited by Humanist Ceremonies, part of Humanists UK, who have supported same-sex wedding ceremonies since the 1890s, over 100 years before the legalisation of same-sex marriage.

Sometimes you have to remember that whilst there's progress to be made, we've come a long way in just my lifetime.

I will always be delighted to have the privilege of being able conduct same-sex weddings.

The wedding ceremony that I did for friends at HEAD Stretford last month is the subject of the latest blog on the Humanist Ceremonies website.

It was such a special day and an honour and privilege to be the Celebrant for Steedee and Chloe.

Give it a read!

Chloe and Paul wanted a relaxed, informal wedding which reflected what matters to them – community, family, and a great night out at the pub. With the help of friend, quiz-master and humanist celebrant, Mark, they created a day which was “fun, casual, and perfect”. “It started as a joke: ‘...

I recently found some pics on my OneDrive of when I staffed a stall at Salford Pride for Humanist Ceremonies a few years back.

Here I am demonstrating how to tie a handfasting knot!

The Humanist Ceremonies Funeral Tribute Archive allows the life stories of ordinary people to be preserved online for posterity, and is the only archive of its kind in the UK.

My Mom's funeral from 2021 has recently been uploaded:

The second photo is my favourite photo of her and me together from when we went to a chocolate box making workshop together. ❤️

Lovely photo of me alongside my Humanist Ceremonies colleague, Emily.

This was taken last weekend when I did her peer review at the gorgeous outside space of the Hayfield Village Hall.

I'm peer reviewing a fellow Humanist Ceremonies Celebrant's wedding ceremony today, and I've just taken my seat.

It's an important part of our accreditation that we have ceremonies observed and I love doing this for my fellow Celebrants.

My recent wedding at Liverpool Town Hall had Clare, a BSL signer, for a deaf guest.

Inclusivity is important for me as a Humanist Ceremonies , and it was a pleasure to work with her.
