We love a classic white bouquet when it's made with scented roses, trailing jasmine, bouncy scabious, dainty cosmos... white definitely works best in Summer, when light levels are high and weddings are outside.

And, most importantly, thank you for giving so much passion and commitment to our business when you've been going through such a tough time personally. I wish I could have made it easier for you, but equally glad that FaB has been so successful this year.

I hope next year is smoother sailing (what's the flowery metaphor, anyone?), but I know we can cope with a few thorns 💪

August is a gorgeous month for embracing the deep, soft tones of late Summer. Perfect if you love Autumn but want the warmer, longer days!

We absolutely loved S and G's flowers last August- filled with texture, warmth and love.

We still have a few spaces left in late Autumn 2024 (October and November), so do get in touch if you haven't sorted your florals yet.

Why is August a great season for large installations?

The simple answer is that foliage starts to get good from August.

From February to July, shrubs and trees do a lot of their growing, which means their branches are soft and wilt rapidly when cut.

From August to January, lots of interesting and colourful foliage becomes available, in deep and bright greens in August, through to oranges and maroons in September and October, and soft silvery greens during the winter.

Today has been scorching hot at the Barn, and it prompted us to think of Alice's gorgeous wedding last year, on a similarly hot day.

Here are our tips for wedding flowers in the heat:

1. Don't worry about it! Seriously, you'll love your flowers whatever, and we've designed your bouquets to get you through your ceremony and initial photographs at least.

2. They do, however, like water and cool air. We always put vases of water in the dining room, so your flowers can hydrate when you do.

3. If you let your flowers drink every so often, they'll see you right through your day.

4. The benefit of us not using floral foam is that most of our decorative arrangements are in water. So they'll be fine! Big installations will be designed to get through the day- no longer, but that's OK.

The weather might have taken a while to play ball but the locally grown flowers are finally coming in thick and fast now 💐
You just can't beat blooms from artisan growers, they add real character, charm, texture and movement that just can't be replicated with commercially grown! There's definitely a need for both UK and imported flowers but when possible, local is best 😍

May can be a risky month for weddings thanks to the weather but so worth it for the best flowers (in Adele's opinion 🤣), Peonies, Foxgloves, Sweetpeas and Corncockle, honestly what's not to love!?🪻

Having a floral statement at your top table is always a good idea ✨
🌸 It's a guaranteed photo spot, great for more candid images during the wedding breakfast too!
🌸 Doubles up as a backdrop for speeches (top tip, get them to print prompts to avoid reading off a phone. Makes much nicer photos!)
🌸 If you're a bit self conscious about everyone looking at you, having some kind of statement helps you feel a little less 'naked' in the space.
🌸 More often than not, we can reuse bits from your ceremony so it's great way of making your flowers work hard for your budget

Today marks Earth Day 2024, a day aimed at highlighting the climate crisis and how we can create a more sustainable future 🌍
There's no getting away from the fact that flowers are a luxury item that come with an environmental price tag. However there are things we do at Fig and Bramble to help minimise our impact where we can:
💚 Seasonal design. By using seasonal flowers we avoid buying ingredients that would need lots of energy intensive intervention.
💚 Single use plastic free, reusable mechanics. We never use floral foam and all of these large scale installations here have been made with reusable mechanics.
💚 Electric vehicles. Both of our gorgeous vans are fully electric.
💚 Recyclable wrapping. All of our gift bouquets wrapped with recyclable kraft paper and are aqua packed with biodegradable cellophane which can go in your home compost.
💚 Green Waste composting. Adele's dad is our unofficial head of environmental services, he has 7 compost bins! Including 3 hot bins which treat all our green waste!
💚 Locally grown flowers. We used a combination of UK and internationally grown flowers. UK flowers are amazing for the delicate detail, truly seasonal looks with fewer air miles. However we supplement with imports which are normally grown in warmer climates and therefore don't require additional heating and lighting.
- we're also always happy to accommodate couples who are looking for 100% UK grown ingredients for their wedding.
