It’s not everyday you do something to really scare yourself - Saturday is that day 🥹 😂 I’m doing a skydive in memory of those who gave their lives during D-Day landings 80 years ago. My much loved grandfather, Robert Ritchie Spink OBE was in the RAF during WW2 and participated in the D-Day landings at Juno Beach - I am super proud of him 😊

The skydive is also an opportunity to raise money for homeless Veterans which Wilton is so closely associated. As the Wiltshire councillor for Wilton I am proud of my town's military connections:

🪂Much of the advance planning for D-Day took place at Wilton House and became the top secret Operations Room, where Churchill, Eisenhower and Montgomery were regular visitors.

🪂UK Land Command was based in Wilton from 1995 until 2008 at Erskine Barracks controlling virtually all Army combat and combat support troops.

🪂Entrain Space, consisting of 44 apartments - the UK's first Veteran enterprise supporting Veterans on their journey to civilian life with homes, community and opportunity is sited at Wilton Hill.

Please give whatever you can for our Veterans, it would be amazing if we could reach the target. Thank you to everyone who has donated - it is so appreciated, Pauline x

Ever since we opened a piano has held the flowers - this is the original one (we’ve had 3!) ‘bought’ on eBay for £0 - there was no room for it so they were giving it away. I can’t play (but always impressed by those who can) instead it’s admired as a piece of furniture. Almost 12 years on and in need of some TLC it’s chipped black paint has been replaced with - much better 🎹
