A week today is Christmas Day and tonight Santa and his Elves will be touring the streets of north Saltford starting at 5.30pm from Kingfisher Lodge - see map below.

Like last year we will set up dedicated 'Santa Stops' along each route in places where it's safe and convenient to park up. We ask that people congregate at these stops, we won’t leave until everyone has had a chance to meet Santa.

Stops will be well lit and easy to find on the map below and timings will vary depending on the number of people at each stop, but will start at the first stop at 5.30pm.

Warm mulled wine and possibly a mince pie will be offered to those in the queue at the stop 3 - Saltford Hall.

Tonight the route covers stops in Chestnut Walk, Norman Road/Brockley Road, Saltford Hall, High Street (Queens Square) and The Shallows.

100% of funds raised this year will go to the Keynsham Foodbank.

We still have a few tickets left, so come along to Saltford Hall’s Burns Supper on 25th January 2025. If you’ve never been to a Burns night, this is your chance. (It’s a great excuse for a Ceilidh).

A not too formal evening of food, entertainment and Scottish dancing.

Experience, The Address to the Haggis, the tongue in cheek, Toast to the Lassies, the equally tongue in cheek, Reply from the Lassies, followed by dancing until late with, The Packhorse Ceilidh Band.
Try your hand at the Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow, Military two step and many more, but make sure you wear your dancing shoes. Or just sit watching everyone do the dancing for you!
Kilts optional.

Tickets are £25 per person and are available via www.tickettailor.com/events/scaevents or at Saltford Community Post Office/Library

It was Saltford Community Coffee Club's Christmas lunch yesterday and this free event was really well attended - see pictures below.

Giant thank yous to :

- the remarkable band of 30 volunteers who give their time so generously once a month

- Saltford Village choir who welcomed guests with festive carols

- Nick Pallet, for his infectious guitar songs, which had us all foot tapping, singing and even dancing along

- Waitrose who selected the Coffee Club Christmas lunch for one of their "Connections at Christmas" awards and paid for all the ingredients including the music

- Kingfisher Lodge who donated some raffle prizes

And last but definitely not least, Saltford's retired residents; without whom there would be no Coffee Club!

We meet every 3rd Tuesday of the month throughout the year and all retired residents are very welcome to attend. To reserve your place, let us know dietary requirements and if you need any help with transport, please call Fiona on 01225 632216 and leave a message for Coffee Club or email [email protected]

Just a reminder that Saltford Community Post Office will be open tomorrow morning from 9-12 noon and for the following Saturday. Lots of Christmas goodies all in stock and of course the library is open as well.

Unfortunately Storm Darragh means that Father Christmas will not be outside tomorrow, but weather permitting will be there on 14th December offering out free mince pies, a big smile and ringing his bell.

What an amazing night we had last night for the annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree celebration at Saltford Hall, despite everything the weather tried to throw at us.

The Hall was packed to hear 80 children from Saltford School and the Saltford Village Choir perform last night. This was together with various seasonal readings and a visit from Father Christmas.

Our thanks to everyone involved in making this a great community event. £300 was raised for chosen Christmas charity this year - Keynsham & Saltford Foodbank.

On Thursday 5th December, Saltford Hall hosts the traditional “Lighting the Christmas Tree” evening from the earlier time of 7.00pm. This features a large enthusiastic choir from Saltford School, backed by Saltford Village Choir. This year the tree will be lit by the children of a local Ukrainian family.

There will be a leaving collection for our chosen local charity this year Keynsham Foodbank.

Just a quick note to thank everyone today for a memorable Christmas Market at Saltford Hall.

With sold out stalls and record breaking takings in our community cafe it seems to have been greatly enjoyed by everyone attending. Just my personal apologies for the length of the bacon roll queue but I'm sure it was worth waiting for especially if with brie!

Thanks also to Father Christmas and the Santa Sleigh team for making an apperance today. They will next be at the Lighting of the Christmas Tree on Thursday evening and then outside Saltford Community PO/Library next Saturday morning.

Today we welcome you to our Christmas Market at Saltford Hall, with 50 lovely stalls, a delicious community café and Father Christmas and his sleigh. This is all indoors and warm, whatever the weather is doing outside!

Santa will be there accompanied by his Elves to greet you between 10.30 - 12.30. There will be stalls offering a huge variety of ideas for Christmas presents so you're bound to find something for even that difficult "what to buy them person".

We will also be selling our 2025 Saltford Calendars, 100 Club membership and there will be a raffle for a wonderful cake donated by Vivien and a basket of goodies from Saltford Fairtrade.

While shopping, relax with a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie and then once you've browsed until you drop, come into our community cafe and savour one of the cafe's specialities, a Newton Farm bacon roll with brie or simply a coffee and home made cake.

Come and enjoy the festive atmosphere and be inspired! The fun starts at 10am and continues through to 2pm. All donation received for Father Christmas and his sleigh will be donated to Keynsham Foodbank.
