Saxilby Village Hall is the perfect venue for clubs, organisations and events of all sizes. In fact it is made up of two halls (of different sizes), and an upstairs function room. Nothing locally comes close in size or flexibility, and there should be a hall, or room to meet the requirements of any hirer. Should you need a room for a business meeting/presentation or a large wedding reception, Saxilby Village Hall and your imagination can make it happen.

The main hall roof has a leak. Sometimes, it rains and it doesn't leak. Sometimes the wind blows in a particular direction, and it's drizzling and we have a leak.

Investigations are ongoing.....

Tricky to locate the issue at such a great height, at the moment, but we're aware, thank you.

Our recent meeting on propagation was a great success. Our Thanks to Paul Maxey of Scothern Nursery for his informative and entertaining talk along with practical demonstrations.
We were shown what sort of equipment is best for which type of seeds, and the different types of cuttings to do depending on the plant in question. We also learnt about grafting and how to divide plants... Not too sure about the unconventional garden tool though! 🫣😅😆 Paul then finished off the session with some questions and answers, he also brought along some plants we could buy.
A great evening which was well attended - good to see the familiar faces as well as some new ones. As an additional treat, we also had a mini raffle and some gardening books available to buy for a small donation.

Information on our next meeting night will follow shortly.

Worried about your health?

I'm a PT/fitness coach/Sports therapist and have over my career become very knowledgeable with how to live a healthier life.

I teach 5 classes in the Village hall here in Saxilby (33rd year).

Monday
5pm, 6.15pm and 7.15pm

Wednesday
6pm and 7pm

The 6.15pm and 6pm have more cardio in (circuit type exercises, but still with rehab/weights etc)

All the rest are weight type based, barbells kettlebells, dumbells/rehab/pilates type moves/stretching/balance/coordination type work.

As we age, it's important to preserve muscle. Our muscle helps protect the skeleton and helps hold us together.

These days, most of the peeps don't go for the best body, but a body that functions as a human being.

As we're living longer these days, it's important if we're blessed to have the opportunity, to age well.

In my gym in the village I have a small Group session max 5 people. Here I teach you how to lift safely, cardio etc and rehab.

Wednesday
6.30am

Thursday
9.15am

I'm considering a class for weight loss (no diets) with exercise.

PT is in my gym too.

I'm going to be honest, I don't have many places available, people do tend to stay.

We take newbies under our wings. Ages vary from 12 years young, to 78 years young.

I'm very fortunate to have a job that I ❤️. My goal is to help as many people as I can, achieve their goals.

All members are lovely, very friendly and helpful. Some are super fit. Some happy to plod. Just find your way....

I'm training a guy to ski in the USA pulling a sledge, at 71 years young that's incredible.

I'm training people to run ultras, marathons and a park run non stop.

I get people ready for weddings, births pre and post.

I've covered most health conditions. I'm 60 years young next year, am I slowing down? Yeah right...

I'm a mother to 5, a Grandmother to two beautiful girls, and I'm getting married next year.

I've had the worst out of the menopause, I've got ageing parents, I've got a couple of autoimmune things going on. I don't let anything stop me.

Like you, sometimes I'm happy and sometimes I can be sad.

I love the environment, nature and animals. My gym is mainly outdoors.... I'm in training for LL50 (if you know you know).

What I'm trying to say is don't give in to getting older, learn to delay lots of it, start by changing your mindset.

I'm training people how to eat well, and live their life, not just survive.

One thing I ask is that you're ready for change....

You only pay for what you attend in classes, no term payments, etc, providing you cancel in time.

Saxilby Village hall car park is accessible. Just in case road closure (flooding) sign hasn't been taken down

The hall itself has sprung a leak. It's been an ongoing problem for a few weeks (since storm).

It is like looking for a needle in a haystack on such an old building. Sometimes, if the wind blows one way, no leak!

Until the problem is resolved, if you do find it dripping (main hall), please pop a bucket under it.

Something like this would be great.

We are a volunteer run committee group. The hall is a Charity.

These things take time, and money is always tight.

Thank you to everyone who's hired the hall over this last year. Our caretaker Neil, for keeping the place clean, and serviced and anybody who's helped us out, including all the volunteers running their groups.

On behalf of the Village Hall Committee, I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

We spare a thought for Keith Jubb, and all those loved ones not here with us this year.

See you in 2025 x

Polite reminder about anybody hiring the hall.

We know it's a busy time of the year and everyone wants to have fun.

Couple of things....

Please secure all doors that you've opened when leaving the building.

I got a call out 6am yesterday.

Also, please leave the hall and outside areas, including the compound as you find it.

Whilst we have our Caretaker, bookings can be close together and cleaning up spilt food etc, left behind after you've gone takes time.

The hall is our home, please look after it.

If you do find any issues prior to you hiring, contact either Neil or myself (me on messenger)

Thank you.

Jane

Honoured to lay a wreath on behalf of Saxilby Village Hall.

Being ex military, and having three children currently serving, was very meaningful.

Beautiful service as always.

We will remember them.....

Please, if you hire the Village hall and you get too hot, please can you do us a favour and turn the radiators down or off?

We're a charity and our heating gas bill is pretty high.

Often people open the doors to let the heat escape, but fail to turn the heating off.

It's such a waste of money and not environmentally as friendly.

We're always looking at ways to improve this.

Many thanks.

Lovely CPR course in the village hall, which was free today.

First Aid Leader is able to run first aid courses, with qualifications if anybody interested.

Fees would depend on how many we can get into the training session.

If it's something that interests you please shout.

The floors have been sanded, and revarnished.

We've another ramp going into the lounge shortly.

Please be careful when moving furniture.

We do have a chair carrier, it maybe found in the main hall.

When lifting tables, we'd really appreciate you not dragging them.

Many thanks
