We are over the moon to share our INCREDIBLE new flyer for 2025 by artistic enigma Our brief was the 1927 film Metropolis, Mysticism and Egyptology. We think he’s nailed it!

LFOG also commissioned to work his genius on the Leeds Alternative Day flyer (3rd image) for March. We wanted alchemy between the designs & feel he’s managed to marry the two harmoniously

Traders will be emailed a digital version so they can share and promote their presence on Tuesday 14th January

The Alternative Market (partnered with ) is on 15th March 10am-4.00pm at , 120+ traders of curiosity, fashion, antiquity, art, jewellery, magickal paraphernalia, dark homeware, horror and all things strange and unusual! We have 3 Zones. 1 in the event space next to the market kitchen, Zone 2 on Row H & Zone 3 on Row 6 (George street) Lots of signs will be in place. The market is FREE & operates as a liberated space. With level access, accessible toilets & changing places. It’s next to Leeds Bus Station & an NCP car park.

Immerse yourself in alternative culture, support independents & socialise with the super friendly Alt community in Leeds. Visit the Leeds Events Stand to find out what going on locally in Zone 2. Tunes will be spun by & .lds

We will be dropping some exciting new elements to the Market over the next few weeks as we are always cooking up plans to keep the market evolving.

We have been blown away by the sheer volume of applications for our March 15th Alternative Market Leeds Markets. We want to firstly thank everyone who registered interest.

The successful applicants will have received an email at 6pm (today) Monday 6th of January. Please check your spam! Places will only be secured with a completed booking form & payment. If you have any issues please contact our market managers as they manage the booking system. Emails will only come from [email protected] Please be careful as there are scammers operating.

We cannot update everyone who applied due to the volume. We do however urge vendors to reapply when we open the doors for new traders for July as we will rotate places to keep the market evolving.

As you know we opened up 30% of trader spots to new traders or traders who vended before October. We have received hundreds of brilliant applications for a very small number of places.

We have painstakingly selected vendors for Zone 1 and 2 that offer something unique to compliment the vendors already booked.

BREAKING NEWS!

We felt we needed a solution so that even more talented traders could have an opportunity and be part of the event.
We are excited to finally share we are opening up a brand new section of the Alternative Market! We will still operate with integrity selecting traders based on what we already have booked on so the market experience is equitable for buyers and sellers.

Zone 3 will run along the newly developed row 6 & will link the top of the Victorian market with our Zone 2. This space will host 30 trade spots and will be table only.

We will be doing lots of additional advertising, promotion and waymarking to showcase the new zone. This will mean the market has well over 100 vendors possibly making it the biggest alternative market in the country!

We are very excited and hope everyone is pleased with our new addition. The Alternative Market Flyer will be dropping any day soon so keep your eyes peeled.

Leeds Festival of Gothica REPOST:

Well, well, well, we have been blown away by the sheer volume of registrations of interest for new traders for the first market of 2025 on Saturday 15th of March

🕸 70% of October traders who applied have already secured their place. As requested by the community we have opened up the remaining 30% to registrations of interest. These are live (link in bio) for new traders or traders who vended before October. Both these measures are to keep the market evolving and equitable.

🕸 We have had hundreds of applications for a very small number of places. It is exceptionally humbling as LFOG’s first event in 2017 had 12 vendors! Some of which are still with us 🖤

🕸 As many of you will know LFOG is coordinated by volunteers. We have unfortunately being blighted by winter bugs (and life) and are extending the period to discuss successful applicants. We apologise for the delay, we were supposed to be letting people know on Friday 20th December. We want to give ample time and energy as it is always a lively debate between the team.

🕸If you have applied and are successful you will now receive an email from our event partners by dusk on MONDAY JANUARY 6th.

🕸 There is however a little Yule gift that we will soon be sharing which is exceptionally exciting. This will potentially allow for more opportunity to vend with us in March. Watch this space!!!!!

We want new blood for our famous Leeds Alternative Market on Saturday 15th of March which is partnered with our friends

We have emailed the 70% of October traders who have been successful for March. It was so tough as almost everyone reapplied. We are encouraging those who didn’t get offered a space to reapply in July and October when we release the links. We will endeavour to ensure our loyal traders all get an opportunity in 2025 but are rotating to make it equitable.

We have 30% of our pitches saved for new traders or vendors who have have traded before October 2024

🕸Are you a darkly delicious maker, creator or do you provide an alternative service?

🕸 We want you to register interest!

You must have current alternative, diverse and unique stock or a service. Socials that are engaging and relevant to your brand are preferable. We also like to see pictures of your stall on your feed and that you are interactive with your audience. You do not need a big following AND socials are not essential if your stock and stall is incredible!
Traders also require relevant insurances and certificates (depending on what you are selling)

Today is both Sophie’s and Sylvia’s birthday. We remember them both.

For Sophie’s first heavenly birthday, Sylvia had a gig, where our iconic black Sophie wristbands made their first appearance. Instead of having a minute’s silence, it was decided it was far more fitting for the gig audience to show their respect and love by ‘making a noise’. Now every year we reach out to the community and ask you, to join us, and Make a Noise for Sophie!

Make a Noise is all about standing together and celebrating difference; whoever you are, alternative or ally, we want to respect where it all began and remember Sophie and shout loud and proud about our shared values of tolerance and respect.

This past weekend, we posted a range of fundraisers and supporters who are making a noise this November for Sophie. Thank you to everyone for everything you do to show your support - we couldn't achieve anything without you. Our final post will be at midnight; ‘Illusion’ by VNV Nation, always a special song to Sylvia as it was dedicated to Sophie on the night that she died.

Let’s remember Sophie, celebrate difference and above all – love being who you are – and don’t go quietly!

We are excited to share our Alternative Market 2025 dates!

As ever the Alternative Market will be at our resident crypt Leeds Markets and is partnered with AdVintageous Vintage Fairs & Events

We will be again partnering with iconic Le Phonographique AKA The Phono for Leeds Alternative Day who will be bringing their influential club afternoon to sit alongside the market.

October traders will be receive an email at 6pm on Friday 15th of November with a priority registration link. They will be given 7 days to respond by Friday 22nd of November. We will choose 70% of total vends from this cohort and send a booking form to the successful vendors on Friday 29th November. Places will only be secured with completed form and payment.

On the 29th of November we will open up registrations for new traders or vendors who didn’t trade in October 2024. This will be via a public link. We will update successful applicants on the 20th December with a booking form. Places will only be secured with a completed form and payment!

We are expecting to be inundated so if you traded in October please make sure you get your priority registration completed!
