Well what can we say... this weekend was definitely a tale of two halves!
Saturday was a glorious day with great crowds. 😎☀️
On the other hand, we were faced with several hours of rain on Sunday afternoon that damped the ground but not our spirits! 🌧🌂
Thanks to everyone who came along this weekend, we hope you had a great time!!
And thanks to all our traders, caterers, exhibitors and stewards. Without you the event doesn't happen!
See you next year... maybe the British weather will be kind all weekend 🤔

🌟🍲Food Theatre Stars! 🍲🌟

This year, the Lancashire Game and Country Festival’s focus is definitely on food –and modern British cooking legend, Nigel Haworth, is a champion of all that is local, sustainable, gamey and wild. Not to be missed, he’ll be headlining the demonstration programme in the Festival’s dedicated Food Theatre, with many top Lancashire chefs and foodie experts also taking part this year.

The driving culinary force behind Northcote, Nigel earned a Michelin star in 1996 and is still writing new chapters in his incredible story with the opening of his much-loved pub and restaurant, The Three Fishes, Mitton, Lancashire. Alongside his restaurant work, he is also a popular presence on TV, appearing on BBC’s Masterchef, The Great British Menu and Saturday Kitchen.

We’re delighted Nigel has agreed to take a brief break from the Three Fishes and will be in the Food Theatre today at 12pm!

HERE ARE ANSWERS TO SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is it? THIS WEEKEND Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th September

What time do gates open and close? The show is open to the public from 9am to 5pm. There is also evening entertainment on the Saturday night with a DJ in the beer tent.

How much are tickets? £16 for adults, £12 for children aged 10-16. Under 10s are free.

Are dogs allowed? Yes if kept on leads and cleaned up after.

Can I pay on day? Yes tickets are available to buy online (at reduced rates: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/lancashire-game-and-country-festival-tickets-875260366317) and on the gate.

Can I pay by card? We do have card machines and most traders will take card but it is worth bringing cash as a back up.

What is the address? Woodacre Lodge Farm, Hazelhead Lane, Scorton, Preston PR3 1BN.

Is it easily accessible if you are disabled? Yes, there is disabled car parking, disabled toilets and the ground is flat and well drained with lots of hard roads (this is compressed hard-core and not tarmac so can be uneven in places)

Is there car parking? Yes there is free car parking just over the road from the main showfield.

Can I camp? Yes weekend camping options are still available to buy online.

Forget boring old wine and cheese
Kick some Ass instead ..

What’s the best beer to drink with your cheese? Tim Proctor knows. He’s a 4th generation cheesemaker and cheese factor, based in Chipping, who with his wife Sue have created and developed the now legendary Kick-Ass Strong Cheddar brand. Found in the best deli’s and cheese shops in the North of England, the cheeses have been sent to connoisseurs as far away as NZ and Australia.

Bowland Brewery have supplied us with some of their favourite ‘game name’ beers – including Pheasant Plucker, Deer Stalker and Hen Harrier. But which matches best with Kick Ass’s Extra Mature Cheddar, Tasty Lancashire and the fabulous Smokey Blue? Find out for yourselves.

Tim is conducting tastings in the Food Theatre at 4 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.

Doug Crampton
Chef Patron at Eight At Gazegill 🍲🥘🍛

Doug Crampton learned his craft at Leeds’ 3AA Rosette Anthony’s Restaurant and trained with top British Michelin Star Chefs. He led the opening of James Martin’s restaurant in Manchester in 2013 and went on to be Executive Chef of the award-winning dining experience. The offer of classic and innovative British cuisine – locally sourced and big on flavour achieved the Sunday Times Top 50 accolade.

He is now Chef Patron of off grid restaurant Eight at Gazegill by Doug Crampton – a celebration of Gazegill’s own delicious organic meat and local artisan producers, as well as a leading innovator in restaurant sustainability.

Doug will be demoing in our Food Theatre at 3pm on the Saturday (7th).

Foraging Away … 🍄🌿🍯

Foraging is a bit of a hot topic come the Autumn. It needs to be done responsibly and with the landowner’s permission …. and to tell us all about that this year is Denise Heys aka 'The Gardening Lady'.

Based in Penwortham, she is a Forager, teacher and RHS Horticulturist who runs sell-out workshops, foraging walks and foraging feast and tasting menu events.

She’ll be chatting, answering your questions and demonstrating creating wild berry preserves in our Food Theatre on both days of the Show. Jammy!
