I’m really happy to have picked up 3 new awards from today. Especially for this photo as it’s one of my favourites from last year. It’s one of the main things I focus on, those real moments and relationships, this moment is a typical kids being kids photo rather than a standard wedding photo which I love.

Thanks to all the judges and the team at NineDots.

Most importantly thanks to my couples who give me the trust and freedom to capture moments like this and not all the staged ‘non real’ stuff.

This Sunday I am returning to one of my favourite ever venues for the WEDSANDS festival wedding show. Come say hi from 11am-3pm on Sunday 28th April 2024.

The amazing team from Barn on the Bay are taking trips to the coastal ceremony site in their tractor and the barn will be looking incredible.

It’s the weekend! I hope you all have fun plans. Here are a few photos from a recent dance floor. Always a fun time and I love when everyone can be themselves and let loose. Wylam Brewery has an epic dance floor space and being an events space the lighting and sound is incredible.

A story award has always been a goal of mine as it’s based on 15-20 images from the same wedding and is all about storytelling (something I sell myself on).

Story award part 1/2… I’m very excited *see my story for the excitement levels 😂. I have only gone and won a STORY AWARD from a goal I have carried across for a few years can finally be ticket off!!

Over 13,000 images were submitted 😱 with only 31 story awards winning. I have always pushed for story awards as I think telling a story across a single wedding is so important for my style, I talk about it all the time and as much as I love those single ‘stand out’ images, I think it’s important that I can consistently tell stories that are personal to the wedding day.

I might have a left over Easter egg to celebrate! *Just joking I don’t have any left 😂

With spring knocking on the door, the sun was shining as Katy & Jon threw a wonderful barn wedding in the Yorkshire countryside.

A classic Land Rover and London bus for transport, rustic barn styling, pie and mash & cheese toasties for food, the perfect Yorkshire wedding.

WOW being a Mum in 2024 is a pretty tough gig. When I take the kids out on my own, a dad with two small children I get comments; ‘you have your hands full there’ ‘how amazing, managing them on your own’ etc etc. When it’s a women, a mother, it’s just expected, if the kids are playing up, you get looked at as if you are the worse mother in the world. The double standards from the world, sometimes your own family is crazy.

Then there is the balance of work and being a mum, the guilt of putting them in nursery, the feeling of societies pressure to be the best mum whilst also having to work! I see the pressure it puts on everyone.

I’m lucky that I watched my Mum working loads to provide for me and my brothers on her own for years whilst also always being there for us and I hope that appreciation has stuck with me.

does an amazing job, juggling being such a caring parent whilst working extremely hard. All her efforts allow me to spend so much time with my kids and have my dream job, which let’s be honest doesn’t feel like work most of the time 😂.

Happy Mother’s Day everyone, a throw back to one of my favourite mother’s expressions of all time 😂. I could tell Ann was going to be full of emotion and expression so I just had to make sure I was in the right place at the right time and let it happen. The framing in the door is the extra little thing!

Also if you let a 3 year old write a card allow a lot of time, it takes a while!! She was very proud (as was I) that she wrote her own name though.

Just like that weddings are back! My 2024 wedding season started with an amazing day at Wylam Brewery with the super nice Hannah & Jonny. Friends of a past couple of mine I was very excited for this day ever since they booked and it certainly didn’t dissapoint.

An appearance from the very excited and cute Fin the dog, a lovely ceremony officiated by a friend of the couple and an incredible dance floor from start to finish.

It’s so so good to have weddings back 🎉 a huge congratulations to Hannah & Jonny who kept to my unofficial quote that doctors go crazy at their weddings.

Great to be at the wonderful Wylam Brewery a fantastic venue with a personal connection for the couple. They also had one of my previous grooms officiate the ceremony.

I will have a proper sneak peek next week but I send a few over the couple and they said:

‘OMG Scott these are incredible!!! Thank you so so much - can’t wait to see the rest!! Honestly booking you was the easiest decision in the whole wedding”

Tomorrow my 2024 wedding season starts, kicking off with a 2 day wedding, with the intimate legal ceremony tomorrow followed by a big wedding on Saturday and I can’t wait.

I love a tipi wedding, offers a private woodland setting for your tipi wedding and I have been lucky to photograph many weddings here over the past couple of years. Close to the lovely village of Sedgefield you are greeting with a wonderful treelined walk before it open up to reveal the tipis and green open space (perfect for games).

I had such a laugh this year capturing some very fun weddings and I’m already excited for this wedding season. Check out Bradbury Glade if you are looking for a tipi venue.

Why I stay late at weddings. If I left a wedding straight after the first dance or an hour or so after, then these photos wouldn’t exist. People relax later in the night, the formalities are over and the drink is often flowing. It’s a fun part of any wedding and I love capturing it. I am working on my end of year ‘in conversation’ video for 2019. Here are a few highlights from an amazing year of weddings. These are a mix of North East, Yorkshire, London, Oxford, Wales, Italy and the Lake District weddings from this year.

One of my favourite weekends of the year, Sarah’s birthday! One of the few weekends of the year without a wedding and we have come to the most peaceful place I know in the North East, Langley Dam Glamping. Gorgeous frosty morning, Ivy is loving it as well!
